    I think you’re right. I’ve opened a help ticket. I found while doing that there was an enormous delay… in fact I’m still waiting for the acknowledge page to turn up… seems certain……

    I also thought I’d try the same post in another blog with the same host and I couldn’t even get the blog to open…… slam dunk… hosting problems…..

    thanks for your interest and help

    Yes, I tried that. Get rid of all codes except basic ASCII. Did it. No difference.

    Well I did it, esmi. Thanks to you. There’s two #header entries. Live a little, learn a little.

    That’s a handy utility. I’ll get it myself. Not that I use Firefox much any more, not sure why, because their upgrades hassled me there for a while I think, use Chrome now, but it’d be good to have that ability available.

    Could peruse my own css on my sites without all the hassle of logging in to the server and whatnot.

    So you wouldn’t see the comments?

    Bloke called Michael Heilemann wrote that script. He’s humorous.
    Here’s his final comment right at the bottom of the stylesheet:

    /* “Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I’m half crazy all for the love of you. It won’t be a stylish marriage, I can’t afford a carriage.
    But you’ll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.” */

    thanks for your help.

    Thankyou esmi. I’ve been incredibly confused recently, looking for files on my blog site to enable me to insert counters in my forum site….. gone right off the rails.

    In fact I’ve got a counter on there already, inserted via a plugin just as you suggest… I did it some time ago… and forgot all about it… and in my recent running around, feverishly googling, failed to rediscover the trail that led me to it last time….

    thanks again.

    What dumb mistake am I making this? Am I at the right file, esmi? home/www/ploverpark.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/style.css ?

    And I am surprised that you can see the files in those directories and even more surprised that you can read them – how is this, esmi? Is that what we all can do with each other’s sites?

    Are we talking about the same file?
    home/www/ploverpark.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/style.css

    #header {
    background: #73a0c5 url(‘images/theparkslim.jpg’) no-repeat bottom center;
    }

    That’s the entry you mentioned changing before.

    this one you say to remove I just don’t find.

    Remove the one I do find?

    Well I’m wrong again – don’t know where I got that idea from… but it is not what is happening with ploverpark, is it?

    The stuff we’re talking about is in wp-content/theme/style.css and I think that file came with the install.

    Anyway… I changed the line and it made no difference. I still get a blue bar each side of the new header image which represents the old header image still being produced and just gets most of it obscured by my new image…

    Yes, thankyou. Silly of me. I should have remembered. I had to make my own style.css so’s changes would remain through upgrades.

    Thanks for your patient help.

    Thank you for that. I’ll try it. Sorry I didn’t reply before – I didn’t get a notification, must have forgotten to tick the box..

    It is okay for me. As I said in my last post jpauch’s suggestion did the trick. I’m so slow it took a while for me to figure out that all I needed to do to find the URL was look in my directories on the server – duh!

    So I was happy.

    But jpauch now says he’s having the same issues ( losing the login ability? ) still, after a year… !

    That worries me a bit. Is there something wrong with WordPress? Surely not. It is so widely used…

    I can get to cpanel okay, of course, and peruse all the directories… but I wouldn’t have a clue about unique urls for the admin. Could you give me some idea what it might be like? domain/blog/admin ? something like that?

    Thread Starter abrogard

    (@abrogard)

    Yes, thanks. I was wondering if maybe it is my fault somehow. I have an .htaccess file that redirects traffic addressed elsewhere to go to that site.

    And I know that redirect has some issues concerning www or not. But I don’t really understand any of it… don’t see how it could really effect it….

    No worries. Other things to think about…
