Actually that’s not the reason for this behavior – if you set the custom length to 100 words, ‘read more’ should not show at all for testimonials with less words, so it’s a bug in the plugin. Note that the ‘Read more’ link does not work and it hides some text from the testimonial. In fact this bug has been in every version since 3.1.7 and still no fix. This bug has been in every version since 3.1.7 (almost a year) and still no fix. Many support requests but just same response each time – ‘There is an open ticket with our development team regarding this’ and marked as resolved. Disappointing!

It’s very annoying that this bug has not been addressed yet, it’s been over 8 months already. I still have to keep the old version 3.1.7 active on multiple websites that I manage.

Hmm, sounds like the same response as 7 months ago and 2 months ago. It was working fine up until version 3.1.8. Not sure why it’s such a big deal to undo the bug introduced in that release.

I did a quick setup of this configuration for testing purposes and looks like it solves the problem. I’ll do some more testing tomorrow and get back if still having issues.

Thanks for replying. wp_title() doesn’t actually appear to be currently deprecated according to WP docs. But in any case, it might be worth mentioning in instructions that SlimSEO not backwards compatible with wp_title().

The issue seems to have ‘magically’ resolved itself. There was en empty htaccess file in the web root which I removed – may have been something to do with it. Another possibility was that since the website was recently migrated, the old DNS records may have been cached somewhere and that could have affected it. Anyway thanks for replying!

This is still a bug in version 3.1.9.

The superfluous Read More link also replaces some of the testimonial text and when you click it, nothing happens, the Read more just stays there. It’s a pretty bad bug.

No, this is a different issue. This occurs when using relative URL setting. Neither WordPress Address nor Site Address in Settings end in a slash. WordPress is installed in a directory called ‘wp’, so WordPress address is https://a1concrete.co.nz/wp and Site address is https://a1concrete.co.nz
I tried it on this site because it is very simple site with not many plugins and none that could interfere with Simply Static.

I did not migrate from an older version. Installed and run Simply Static 3.0.9 on latest version of WordPress.
