So, WP Yogi, what is your observation of the above (error log, and, host’s statement)?

    Attn: WP Yogi

would close this if there was a “Close” option.

    I only see “Resolved”

    but this is not resolved

so I guess the only choice for us is “Resolved”

Ok, so, with both pieces of disappointing news (no update, no update will cure the ill),
then the only way out of this mess is to trash the files at my host and start over from scratch, rebuilding the 5 sites from ground zero.

I will work with my host support to see how to best clear out the sites and do complete rebuilds.

    What a horrible thought.

Well, I was hoping for some excellent and effective support from the forum, but as they say at the hammer pound at the summer fair, “No cigar!”

    Thanks anyway,
    Vance

P.S. – Does anyone at WordPress know when the next Update is coming (presumably version 3.7.2) ??

Or can the forum moderator please dig in to WordPress management and let me know this.

I am counting on using the next Update in my cPanel utility called Softaculous as it forces a core-level update to WP and I am hoping that step will clear the crap out of my WP sites.

5 are broken, 2 work just fine. I can’t explain why updating to 3.71 broke 5 but left 2 OK.

    Thanks,
    Vance

    RE: fresh WordPress
In cPanel, the host offers Softaculous, a way of doing updates of WP and there I can force a reload (I think).
    ANSWER:
NO, I can not force a fresh reload via Softaculous utility the host offers.

So, step by step, via cPanel, how can I call and force a refresh under the sub-directory for each troubled site?
    Step1:
    Step2:
    etc.

    Thanks.

Once in cPanel, what do I do next to get to use phpMyAdmin?
    Step1:

    Step3:
    etc.

So, esmi?Theme Diva & Forum Moderator,

Once again, how do I perform your kind suggestions when ” all as I described above?”

    Thanks,
    Vance

    Thanks.

In cPanel I deleted all files in each site’s PlugIns subdir because WebhostingPad.com’s tech supp said, at first that is, that all this problem was due to this plugin: TrueGoogle-404.
And when that did nothing they switched and said it was some other unknown plugin, so
off they went to PlugIn code heaven.

The only way in to each of these 5 problem sites is via cPanel. = I have never heard of nor used nor know how to use phpMyAdmin. What do you type into the browser window to get access to a site?

“re-uploading all files & folders” — what files & folders?

“from a fresh download of WordPress” — how do I do that via cPanel? or as you put it,
running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php — again, how do I use wp-admin/upgrade.php when all I have seen so far (not that it can’t be done) is that the only way in is via cPanel.

Thanks so far for your suggestions,
    Vance

Thanks I will give that a try when I am not so very, very, very exhausted over this whole thing from trying and failing all day.

    Hi guys,

This is so very discouraging (the webhost tells me to go here cause they either don’t wanna or claim they can’t help after they told me its a plugin issue. So I deleted all plugins and still have the same problem).

WP sites show blank, and I can’t log in via WP-Admin,

Getting the same error msg on several sites after WP update to latest ver. Example:

    food-revolution.org :?
PHP Parse error:? syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/<username>/public_html/food-revolution.org/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4080

Only access for me is via cPanel at the host.

I have 2 WP sites that are still working OK. Is it too simple to just copy some files from one of those sites into (overwriting) some sub-dir at the problematic sites?

Would someone be kind enough to help?

    Thanks,
    Vance

    Or, maybe this would work:

Copy the theme files from a currently WP site working with the latest ver. of WP

into the themes sub-dir at a problematic site, deleting the old theme by overwriting the files with a theme known to be working w/ the latest WP ver.

In hopes of getting back into the WP Admin panel…

    Please advise, thanks,
    Vance

    Follow up question:

    RE food-revolution.org
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/<username>/public_html/food-revolution.org/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4080

Someone said the themes might not be working with the very latest WP version update.

Would I be able to go into my cPanel and go retro on WP? How can I find a previous version at www.ads-software.com and how do I load it / overwrite the latest version?

This is so bad — I’ve literally ‘lost my sites’ from the ‘www’.

    Help please.

WP site shows a blank page in a normal browser.

Getting this error msg in several WP sites
    food-revolution.org :?
PHP Parse error:? syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/<username>/public_html/food-revolution.org/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4080

Being denied access to log into WP Admin panel — only way in is via cPanel at webhost.

Please, what corrections can I make?
Can it be as simple as copying code under that sub-dir from a working WP site and then in cPanel overwriting everything under ” wp-includes/functions.php ” ???

    Thanks,
    Vance

Removing Comments Functionality – Help please

I followed the sage advice above in Method 3. That and some other “deletes” I did.

But – we still see the words, “Leave a Comment -> ” displayed on the Home Page Sticky Post.

Question: How do we get rid of that?

By the way, I have left 3 emails plus one voice message at the contact info given at “Automatic” — alas, Not a word back — I guess the people at Automatic subscribe to the philosophy we saw back in high school: same as the old 4F-Club Saying.
