In reply to: [Gutenberg] UselessHi, well firstly it is a huge mistake to force this onto people using the default core WordPress setup.. Plugins are and should always be optional, not mandatory!
Then, the next issues caused by this was the instant problems it caused with themes that people were using and the forced learning curve administrators were forced to adapt to, to make simple edits to content.. to the point of it rendering some tasks non functional.
Add to that bug and flaws in its release design, and you have a recipe for a backlash and negative feedback.
How this should have been done would be ‘Promotion’ of the plugin, but always keep it optional. My personal view is that i will NEVER use it, most themes come with things like Visual Bakery etc., if they are using a page builder overlay system anyway, so Gutenberg will always remain a pain in the neck for most WordPress users, even new installs will find the alternative page builders and core builder much easier to use and learn.

I have the same issue, but it is strange as i can get it to work sometimes. Basically, if you open up the form in the admin for the Optin Forms, and just click ‘Save’ it appears to work o.k and the submission is processed.. however after a while it reverts back to having a problem. Also i had someone else check the form from a different location and computer and they could not get it to work, even after the resave.
Really need a fix for this ASAP please, otherwise i will have to get rid of the plugin.
Hi, thank you for explaining. Yes, i agree the less fields the better the sign up rate. I have explained this to the client. Also it’s still possible to get the phone number fields etc., when they go to the signup confirmation screen at MailChimp. I.E The MailChimp signup form is still independent of the plugin, and can have a lot of extra fields added there if needed.
