It won’t effect the speed of your site or your bandwidth but sites like YouTube give you peace if mind in that situation and offer high quality support too.

Your comments.php is identical to a working copy I am currently using. Have you tried replacing your WordPress files?(please backup first) maybe the problem is there.

Do you have an old link maybe you could see the link like “/2011/09/17/post-title/” and type it into the Custom Structure area on the permalinks page like /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ but re-arrange it however you need. I ran into this problem once and thats what I came down to doing.

For the video uploading you might wanna see WordTube at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordtube/ if you want all videos to be converted to mp4 format you would want to modify wordtube to convert them first using ffmpeg at https://ffmpeg.org/ ffmpeg can also create video thumbnails too! ??
