In reply to: Dashboard showing wrong widget countThis thing has been resolved now after upgrading to version 2.8.5.

Its a problem with your server and CHMOD I think. Try changing the file its listing to 777 via FTP client or something
Previously i was on 2.7.1 and never faced such problems. Can you be more specific about which files that needs chmoding. You can’t chmod all files/folder to 777.
“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
I get the above error when i am moving around in Admin pages . For e.g. When i am at “settings” page and then i click on Dashboard i get the error above.
My WP version is 2.8.5 too.

I installed the plugin u’ve mentioned above.
After going thru the plugin description, i see uninvited problems ahead.

User Access Manager 0.9.1.3
Manage the access to your posts and pages.
Note: If you activate the plugin your upload dir will protect by a ‘.htaccess’ with a random password and all old media files insert in a previous post/page will not work anymore. You have to update your posts/pages. If you use already a ‘.htaccess’ file to protect your files the plugin will overwrite the ‘.htaccess’. You can disabel the file locking and set up an other password for the ‘.htaccess’ file at the UAM setting page.

We’ll migrate to the latest build this time.
After upgrading to the latest build we had to switch back coz a number of plugins and the footer broke with the new one. There were also problems relating to collation in the db and wp_post tables had few problems too.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can’t restore wordpress databse through PhpMyAdminMySQL said: Documentation
#1170 – BLOB/TEXT column ‘post_content’ used in key specification without a key lengthThe above error was due to corrupt tables in the database. Since 2-3 upgrades were carried out on top of the original 2.6.1 , so its likely to somehow get corrupted.
Opened up the SQL file in Notepad edited manually and reuploaded . Problem was fixed.
Every blogger should learn a bit of Database Maintainence .

Vote button doesn’t work.
When php get_footer is replaced by php wp_footer it works. The plugin works absolutely flawlessly.But new problems start right there;
Footer not visible anymore
Statcounter code stops collecting traffic data.Any workaround? This plugin isn’t bug free.

In reply to: Dashboard showing wrong widget countThanks for replying the second half of my question.
I am still eager to know why there’s a wrong widget count in my dashboard.
Well i had upgraded to the latest version when i ran into a stream of problem with 2.8 , and that’s the reason why i am still with 2.7.1 and hate that Nag Screen ‘Please Update to 2.8’. Its been there done that kinda thing, hope u understand that.
