Starting out I don’t know if I can afford 200usd especially not knowing if my site will be successful.

A quick look shows that each plugin would set me back 200 USD! Which is very expensive for me and I am only starting out, no idea whether my business idea is going to work…..

Do you have any advice on this? Bite the bullet and save up to spend on these two plugins or is there a cheaper option?

Okay, thanks for the article very interesting….but im still not sure…is there a major downside to having my main site in a subdirectory instead of in root? I just dont want to have my wp files mix with oher files…..

But if there is a big downside, like SEO, or anything else, then Ill think about it…….

But I would like to hear why its better to have the site in the root?

I want it in a folder so I can have everything together, but if there are good reasons to have the site in the root I may have to think about it.

I have managed to get wordpress installed in a sub directory. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
The reason I have chosen to do this is just preference, I prefer to have all my wordpress file in one folder and so the dont get mixed up with the rest of the files and folder in my root.

One last question, is SEO going to be a problem if my main site is in a subdirectory?

Hi, thanks for the help. Ive decided to start a fresh and reset my server and get rid of everything. I have backed up my files and databases and will try and install wordpress in a sub directory.

Basically Im trying to restore my wordpress install. Ive backed up everything.

I have now created a subdirectory on my server and have installed a new install of wordpress. I now what to replicate my old wp install on this new install thats working….so do I copy the old file here? how do I make it connect to the original database? replacing the wp-config file with the old one will work?

Okay so if I backup and make a local copy of the wp-admin, wp-content and the wp-includes folders as well as the wp-config.php and export my database I should be able to recover my site?

Its strange because I can access a wordpress site on a subdirectory here: https://www.elchevirtual.com/deviaje
BUT after my mess up and my hosting company recover my files for me I cant access https://www.elchevirtual.com

Anyone know why this could be?
