In reply to: How do I do get this effect?Hi,
I created the background, and applied it. But while it’s fixed in position, the actual WP page isn’t, and slides around over it when the browser window is resized.
In the example site I referenced in my first post, this doesn’t happen: the bg image is “stuck” to the WP page. This is what I want.
How do I get the bg image and the WP page to “stick” together?
Thanks…

In reply to: How do I do get this effect?Andrew,
No point: it’s the TwentyEleven theme, so far unmodified.Robin:
Thanks, that’s great. I’ll give it a go:)Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: How do I do get this effect?Hi,
Yes, I’ve a child theme set up, with a custom stylesheet waiting for adapting. I’m adapting the TwentyEleven theme, so there should be no hidden surprises or conflicts.
Sorry, but I’ll need this process explaining step-by-step.
Do I need to create a new div-class?
Is the mirroring of the elements on one side (i.e. the feathers) the result of a CSS action, or are they 2 different pics?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Free downloads/collect emails?Ah, I should have explained: I’m already using Wp-eCommerce.
Won’t e-shop conflict with another cart/payment system?

In reply to: Removing date/comments from just one postLOL. Yes, it worked. I just assumed, in my ignorance, that the ID’s would be the same.
Many thanks for all your help, really appreciated!

In reply to: Removing date/comments from just one postAllow comments box was already unchecked.
I added the code you just supplied (changing the post ID to 929, of course), however I can still see the bubble/no comments icon. It’s this I wish to remove.

In reply to: Removing date/comments from just one postYup, that worked perfectly: many thanks!
What would the code be to remove the Comment option for this post, please?

In reply to: Removing date/comments from just one postHi,
Thanks for your quick answer. Ah, OK. Only the thread I copied it from stated that it should go in the single-post.php, or single.php file.
I tried putting it in my style.css file, but there is a note from the theme author to say that you mustn’t do this, and to instead put any custom CSS in the provided ‘Theme Options’ box. Doing this hasn’t changed anything.
BTW, the post-ID is correct:)

In reply to: Massive site slowdown! Please help! Urgent! Also Esmi, please don’t say things like “we can’t help you here”. Someone indeed may be able to help, and remarks like that may discourage others from offering their advice. I need all the advice I can get LOL.

In reply to: Massive site slowdown! Please help! Urgent! No, I think you misunderstand. The TE theme works, and works fine, BUT, because the site is a store, and shows products etc, and TE isn’t set up like that, then when the TE theme is set up, the store doesn’t show up. Hence, it’s “incompatible”, by which I don’t mean it doesn’t work, I mean it’s pointless for the purposes of testing, as we can’t see what we want to see or check the speed of loading when it doesn’t load!
Trust me, it’s not the theme. The theme worked fine for months, and nothing’s been changed or added to it.

In reply to: Massive site slowdown! Please help! Urgent!Yes, I understand that. But because it’s a store, none of the products will load or appear in Twenty Eleven, resulting in it loading really quickly anyway. TE is incompatible with ShopperPress.

In reply to: Massive site slowdown! Please help! Urgent!Plugins, yes.
Twenty Eleven – it’s a store, not a blog, so it wouldn’t work with that theme at all anyway.
Resetting by FTP, I’ll give it a try, thanks.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: eshop productsHi,
I’ve just started using e-shop too, and I agree the help documentation isn’t too great: it rather condescendingly assumes you already know far more than you do. It’s a great plugin, but it really could benefit from an “eShop for Dummies” style help section.
Here’s how I did it:
Create a page for your products; let’s assume you’re selling books. Call the page ‘Books’. In the text area, write your intro (i.e. ‘Here’s a list of books we sell’).
Below this text, add the shortcode:[eshop_list_subpages]
Next, create a new page (not post) for each book you want to sell, and set its parent as your Books page. Add your Product info (SKU, Price etc). Add a featured image of the book cover, and eShop should do the rest.
Good luck.
