In reply to: Where are my sidebars in IE?Well, the sidebars are still missing or hidden or just utterly buggered, however you’d like to describe it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t really have the time to spend fussing with the stylesheet. I know it worked when the blog ran on 1.2, and I’m just mystified how the upgrade, for which I followed some pretty precise instructions to keep the template as-is, could have had this result.

In reply to: Where are my sidebars in IE?Thanks. The template was designed by my predecessor, by mucking around with an existing WordPress 1.2 template. I upgraded to 1.5 and followed directions on how to keep the existing template. Unfortunately, I never looked at the blog in IE before the upgrade, so I’m not sure if the sidebar issue was in place already or if somehow the transition to 1.5 has prompted it.
I did try commenting out the
<div id="outerwrapper">
portion of my stylesheet, and that just put the main column on the left, it didn’t make the sidebars appear.I’ll run the code through the validator and start trying to correct the errors, but I remain open to and grateful for any other suggestions.
Thanks,

In reply to: rss aggregators for WordPressHey there. I’m actually looking for the opposite. I need an RSS aggregator that won’t put the feeds in a post. Instead I want to add a little “Latest News” portion in the sidebar of the Coalblog (www.coal.ca/blog/).
I’ll look through the descriptions of each tool listed above, but if anyone knows of something that can do what I need I’d appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
Thanks,

In reply to: 1.2 to 1.5 without upsetting custom templatesThanks. I seem to have made it do what I need. Now I’m trying to figure out why the comments form doesn’t appear. The site had over 6000 spam messages awaiting moderation when I inherited it, so clearly my predecessor shut them off, I can’t figure out how, though. They’re turned on in the options and on the individual entries.
Nobody mentioned “blog detective” as a role during my job interview. ??

In reply to: 1.2 to 1.5 without upsetting custom templatesThanks. I got the whole thing upgraded nicely.
The only problem is that for some reason the header image now has a white margin next to it on the left (check https://www.coal.ca/blog/ to see what I mean). The stylesheet is exactly the same, I can’t figure out what’s happened.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

In reply to: 1.2 to 1.5 without upsetting custom templatesThanks. I’ve made it through the first steps, but when I get to the “Prepare Your Files” part I run into a problem.
I am told to replace the line:
<?php include(ABSPATH . 'wp-comments.php'); ?>
with
<?php comments_template(); ?>
The problem is, my wp-comments.php doesn’t have the
<?php include(ABSPATH . 'wp-comments.php'); ?>
. I can send or post a copy of the file if that would help.Thanks,

In reply to: can *anyone* post by email?The link no longer works. Does anyone know where I can find this fix? I just got a Blackberry, and I’d really like to be able to use it to blog.
Thanks,

In reply to: Hello Dolly broke my blogNope. That’s just the way my host’s directory structure works. I’m hosted through ICDsoft.com if that helps. I know many hosts have you put your public files in a directory called “public_html” but in my case it’s “www”.
The first one holds the main domain (as the second “www” and also any subdomains, as folders named after the subdomain). So subdomain.voxnoxi.com would be www/subdomain/… but the main domain gets the weird path.
Does that make sense? I’m afraid I’m not sure what info to provide to help people find a solution.
Thanks,

In reply to: Hello Dolly broke my blogWeirdly, it actually is supposed to be www/www/…. I just double checked the directory structure.

In reply to: Hello Dolly broke my blogOkay, I think something is not functioning right with plugins in general. I tried installing an Image Browser (https://www.bistr-o-mathik.org/code/wordpress-plugins/) that would allow me to post images, and I got the following error when I tried to activate it:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ib_print_insert_image_link() (previously declared in /home/voxnoxi/www/www/wp-content/plugins/image-browser-plugin.php:40) in /home/voxnoxi/www/www/wp-content/plugins/image-browser-plugin.php on line 39
