If I disable cURL will that affect anything else on my wordpress site?
Also would lengthening the “time limit” in advanced settings help?
thank you

Just curious what the downside is and how it relates to the age of the site?

In reply to: “insert image into post” creates a blank screenHere’s a mini workaround that I’m using in the meantime:
Start you post in the quickpost section of the dashboard and add the image.
Then “save draft.”
Then go to Recent Drafts, Click on your new draft and your image will be in there.
Of course if you need to do multiple images this would be a pain, but for one it is a good workaround.
I hope a failproof solution comes along soon!

In reply to: “insert image into post” creates a blank screenThe Capitalizations solution in the settings did not fix the problem for me.
Any other solutions?

In reply to: need help: popularity contest in sidebarOtto, You’re a lifesaver! I know I probably look like a dummie, not knowing that already. But I’m learning. I thank you so much!!
And thank you HandySolo for taking the time to help also!

In reply to: need help: popularity contest in sidebarOtto, Thank you for responding here!
Your fix is correct for the plugin to display. Thx!
There is one other thing too. If you look at my site in IE you’ll see on the left sidebar at the bottom, the Top Commentators leaks into the background color not the white sidebar that it is supposed to be in.
Also if I move that widget to any other location it completely fouls up the formatting of the whole blog, like crazy. If it is not at the bottom things look a mess. If it is at the bottom over on the right hand column everything becomes centered (the posts and all widgets).
That’s why I don’t have the Popular Posts in there yet, because it breaks my formatting to do so.
Any suggestions? I am deeply grateful in advance of your reply! Thx.

In reply to: need help: popularity contest in sidebarregarding the execphp widgets, my “Top Commentators” doesn’t look too pretty and if it’s not at the bottom, things get all messed up formatting wise.
so it seems that the issue is with execphp…perhaps.

In reply to: need help: popularity contest in sidebartried your suggestion but the execphp widget says that the code must be inside those tags.
maybe Otto will pick up on this thread. I’ll give him the link to this.
I use windows not mac, if that has any significance.
Thanks Handy. Like your new look on your site BTW.

In reply to: insert tracking script after <body> tag (mybloglog)Thanks everyone.
Jazlai,
It sounds like you need to make your header.php file writable by changing the properties of the file on your server to allow writing. (do this in your ftp client by right clicking on the file, then click on properties, then check off the “write” box.)After you do that then you should see a save button on your theme editor for the header.php file.
I’m no expert but I think that should solve your issue.

In reply to: need help: popularity contest in sidebaroops, here’s the code
// <?php akpc_most_popular($limit = 10, $before = <li>, $after = </li> ); ?> //
forgot to use backticks when putting in the code.
thx.

In reply to: favicon not showing in Firefoxthanks for replying. I’m glad you can see it in firefox. It is stripes of purple orange white etc. hmmm. I wonder if it is just my personal settings on ff? But I can see other sites’ favicons. I’ll try your idea.

In reply to: need formatting helpresult: reloaded header.php for this theme and redid recent changes in IE instead of making changes in Firefox.
Now everything works.
