How do you do this if the file permission of the .htaccess file is set to 0444 and you’re locked out of the site and can’t access the server tweaks to change it back?
If you are locked out from WP, access your site Via Cpanel (your ISP provider should have provided you credentials) change the permissions there and edit the file there.
To test if the lockout is working, set up a test account, then try to login with a bad credential.
Perhaps increasing the default time that the plugin remembers bad logins may help lockout users who are repeatedly hitting you.
Smart hackers and their tools know how to spread out login attempts to defeat known security tools, so adjust your default time higher to see if you catch the offender.
By “admin” login do you mean Wp-admin?
You can hide the back-end login under the hide TAB.Just make sure to have a second account in case you get locked out.
You may want to use complex and longer user names as well, such as bn6u8fwrd790.
Yes, I agree it would be handy to know what user name an IP is trying to hit, some auto hack tools will run through quite a few variations though.
I realize it is frustrating waiting for a response from the author. I am only chiming in as a way to “payback” the author for his free plugin.

In reply to: [Redirection] 4000 redirections all wrong – how to forward all at once…I reverted back to version 2.2.11
This “turned on” the headers that let you order by hits, date and url.Deactivate and then delete the current version (.13) then download ver 2.2.11 available in the developers tab, then use the add new plugin upload option.
This also seemed to “fix” the reorders not working problem I was having.
logging is still not working in case anyone can suggest a fix for it.
If you need more details, just post here.

In reply to: [Redirection] re-order does not stayI also made a new group within the WP module and re-ordered the group to place the new group first.
Again the change was not there when I returned to re-direct. The new modue was back at it’s default location

In reply to: [Redirection] 4000 redirections all wrong – how to forward all at once…I redirected 40 similar links by using regular expression (click on regex box) /abc/html- as source and /def/hij as target
so all my broken links started with abc/html- and I redirected them using one redirect.
I am not certain if regex applies only to the source URL and not the target/new URL
The instructions located in the below link indicate the regex applies only to the source URL—–if this is wrong I think someone will let us know
