In reply to: Content card for a single page on my own siteHmmm. I deactivated all my plugins and it still didn’t help. It wouldn’t be the Twenty Twenty theme, would it?
The Embed block in the editor won’t let me select it with the mouse. It seems quite seriously affected. I disabled all my plugins again and even then, I couldnt select the block with the mouse. I can select it using the block selector dropdown on the menu. Are you using the Gutenberg editor too?

In reply to: Content card for a single page on my own siteHi George,
thanks for the info – not sure why then, but the Embed block on my site isn’t handling it properly. In the Gutenberg editor, the Embed block becomes uneditable after I select the link, and on the actual webpage displayed, it only shows the link with the title and no image, categories, tags, author, date etc.
i.e. it’s a bit of a disaster. I thought it must be a plugin causing problems so I tested it with all my plugins disabled but didn’t get anywhere.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty] Laptop/desktop display tweaks neededOh well, I guessed it was an option too far.
I like the simplicity of Twenty Twenty, but it comes at a price.
This is my next question and feel free to call out ‘off-topic’, but can I try out changing to Twenty Twenty-one without losing all my Twenty Twenty settings if I change back?

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty] Laptop/desktop display tweaks neededNo, I think that’s the Site title you mean – it appears in the browser window title bar.
OK sure – this is it:
We also emailed. As far as the user_register event goes, am I correct that firing an event should be a relatively simple addition?
By the way you still have a “Heateor-tester” login on my website https://carbonwatchdog.org/
I have left it there carefully with faith that you will one day be back ??
Thanks!

Hi @webagile I talked to a couple of different WordPress developers about creating such a block for incorporating tweets into the newsletters and they were not very positive about the idea – in fact no-one offered to do it even.
One issue is that you TNP developers might decide to implement Gutenberg blocks in your Newsletter content instead of custom TNP stuff. If you have plans to do that, it doesn’t make sense for me to invest in developing a custom Twitter block.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Unable to save widgets dialog after upgrade to 5.6Thanks @macmanx don’t know how I managed to get this far in life without that plugin. It’s like having superpowers now. I fixed my immediate problem and updated my widgets, but now I’m not sure what happens next.
It turns out it was the Gutenberg plugin causing the problem. It totally changes the Widgets edit dialog layout and behaviour, and unsurprisingly it says it hasn’t been tested with 5.6 ??
Ping!
I have duplicated this message on the Newsletter Plugin website forum.
can you explain how you managed to sort out the spacing between the menu image and title? This is exactly the same problem I’m having, and just adding padding settings into my Additional CSS isn’t working ??
I think it must be using .menu-image-title-before right?
I’d appreciate it!
No problem. I don’t envy your job writing the plugins to deal with this RSS stuff.
Thanks. For anybody else reading, I managed to republish an external feed locally using the method here: https://martech.zone/wordpress-publish-external-podcast-feed/
The original feed has only one entry. I am about to upload a second when I get this sorted.
Sorry about the 404, I had experimented with the custom feed URL and needed to refresh the site permalinks. It’s producing XML now.
I had used the query parameter
?feed=rss2
to force RSS v2 but I don’t think it would work if I placed the query parameter in the plugin custom feed URL field, would it?- This reply was modified 4 years, 2 months ago by Adam.

In reply to: GDPR and cookies with Google AnalyticsHi A2HostingRJ,
good to know that there is a way to do it – of course there has to be. It’s just not WordPress friendly is it though? Further online searching shows that Google is only talking so far about making their Site Kit easier for GDPR, and that some people are just going with the GDPR cookie compliance plugins and putting the Google Analytics javascript snippets in that plugin’s config somewhere. Currently looking for both the snippet to copy and the place in the GDPR plugin to put it.
