I changed the text in both the WPBDM.pot and the WPBDM-en_US.po and there were no changes showing for the submit listing

I then had a look around and the You need to pick the categories first and then you’ll be shown the available fee plans for your listing is hard coded in the submit-listing-plan-selection.tpl.php file

To remove the Your plans details under the category drop down box I removed the block of code from line 25 – 32 and that solved that one.

Wording and categories as well.

When I look at the Submit a Listing page I get under category selection

You need to pick the categories first and then you’ll be shown the available fee plans for your listing

I don’t want the italics part to appear as all are free listings and refering to fee plans will confuse people

Once an option is chosen from the drop down box for the categories it shows

Your plan’s details:
Never Expires Free Listing Free
No images allowed.

I don’t want the italics part as that again refers to a plan.

(I did change in the admin to never expire and no images.)

I have checked my version – it is 5.1.2

Payments are turned off and on the Directory Admin->Manage Fees it says “Payments are currently turned off.” The only plan listed there is the Free Listing default plan.

All of this is on my local server, which I flushed the cache but that did not resolve the issue.

I then installed the plugin on a test site that has not had this plugin installed before. It is a default install with no listings and just the general category, so no cached pages their either.

Checking again it is the same as the above – version 5.1.2,
Directory Admin->Manage Fees “Payments are currently Turned off”
Only plan is the Free listing default plan

Viewing the Submit Listing page the “….. and then you’ll be shown the available fee plans for your listing and your plan details section” are still showing.

So flushed cache and checked again, logged out then viewed the Submit Listing in case I was seeing all of that as I am admin and the payments etc would dissapear if I was not logged in or logged in as an ordinary member, but no joy that way either.

Optimised the database, removed all cookies for the online version and viewed in another browser but no joy that way either.

So running out of ideas and things to try but if you give me other things to do I will do them.

I just copied and pasted the info – and I have checked in my old copies and I can not see the ??? – in either notepad or the spreadsheets in Open Office, but at least if that happens again I know what to try and stip out ??

I forgot to mention in the email that one of the CSV imports the first 3 records only and the other one imports the last 3 records only.

Ahh – I have solved it!

I was using the right csv but decided to download the template again to make sure. Yep, all the columns where the same as mine. Then I got the bright idea to check the template in NotePad and that is where I saw what my problem was.

I was using a semi colon as the delimiter and not the comma!

As soon as I made a new copy of my CSV file, saved it as new name (giving it an already used name and over writing it will not work) and choose the comma as the delimiter when saving and loaded it – it all worked!

thank you – here are the answers to your questions:

1. it appears on any post page when I go to edit but because I can now see from All Posts page what is in the SEO I have now made sure that they are changed. So I can change them and update and that works but when the page reloads the default text returns and as long as I do not click the update again it will stay as I had put it in before

2. Yes – the create a new post page will be blank except for that part

3. that was a good question – I have checked and yes it is there as well.

aioseop_options is the key – deactivating the plugin then removing that key directly from the database has half fixed it – I can now see the headings on the post page, but it is still putting in default text.

can anyone tell me the name of the keys in the wp_options table that are added when this plugin is installed – I need to be able to do a clean install!

for anyone who has the same problem here are some things that helped to get it all under control and to stop it.

Edit the wp-config so not have posts going through the trash – delete them permanantly

Plugins
Install a catcha
Install Ban Hammer which will stop spammers from being able to register or post
Install Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions will keep the revisions table clean
Install Quick Cache will speed up the site
Install User Spam Remover will allow you to easily remove any user with 0 posts – a set and forget.

The site is an article directory – been around for about a year and only in the past few months this has started to happen – I guess as people (or article automation software) found it!

I stopped submissions mid nov to clear the backlog of 58000 (Yes that is right) and finally got it done yesterday. Most were duplicates or in wrong cat or titles not in title case which is why there is only about 5000 actual articles. I had hoped that because no one could add for a month it would start off again slowly and I would have more time to find how to get it under control … but sadly no ??

Posts are the issue – not comments – I got that one worked out with a series of plugins and spam checkers etc ??

Just been trying all of the delete and duplicate plugins – lots of the posts are duplicates (usually 2 at a time) or in the wrong cat etc – usual thing.

I am going to run a plugin that will get rid of all of the sign ups without an article – but I need to get the posts under control at the mo.

And of course being able to delete permanently and not have to go to trash first would be great – when you get so many a day you get into a “show no mercy” stage! There is a plugin that does allow delete permanently but not as a drop down option when viewing pending posts – only on each individual post itself

So ANY help – suggestions on how to get this under control would be appreciated because it is happening right now and I am not making it up.
