Hi Rogier, a few minutes ago before you sent your latest post, I checked the .htaccess file on my FTP Client and realized that tough I yesterday removed all that is not WP rules from the .htaccess, it rewrote again the rules of RS SSL rules prior to the WP rules. I then removed that part again and then accessed to the admin. Now, the main problem still exists: how secure it is to reinstall and activate th RS SSL plugin on my site?
Hi Rogier, thank for the information, but is that so serious that shuts the public site down? I still cannot access my admin. What is next? What I need to do in order to get in to my admin? The current stat is this: 1) I removed the RS SSL on the FTP Client 2) deactivated the Complianz plugin on the FTP and 3) updated the .htaccess according to your instructions. But, still cannot access the admin
Thank you so much for your help and support. I am so upset by what has happened. I all cases I wish you all the best. Regards, Ak
Yes, I am sending it to the same email in one minute.
Rogier, I cannot get it now. What is the issue you discovered and how I fix it in order to get back to my admin dashboard? Please, help. Now, I removed the whole plugin on the FTP client and you said that the .htaccess is correct. So, what to do get back to the admin dashboard?
Hello everyone, I just chatted with Rogier and Aert about the same issue. I thought I was the only one, but when I read Chad and rtpharry, I think I encountered the same issue in the same way. I followed the instructions give by Rogier by deactivating the plugin on the FTP and deleting from the .htaccess file all the parts except the Wp part. After that I accessed again the admin dashboard, but when I reactivated Really Simple SSL, the same issue occurred. So that I am again in the same situation as Chad, unfortunately.
Hi Aert,
I just sent you the files in question.I also removed the plugin via the FTP client.
I am sorry to say Rogier that the glitch occurred again after I tried to activate the plugin. To what email address I can send you the .htaccess file?
Thank you very much once again, Rogier for your help. I updated the php without problem. However, the Really Simple is still deactivated. How can I be sure that if I activate it again and update to the latest version, the same issue will occur?
Thank you Rogier! I now got back to the admin dashboard. I removed everything except the WordPress related from both .haccess and that works, thank you so much for that. However, by mistake I deleted also php AddHandler and it set me bak to the version 5.4 from the 7.3. I need now to rea-update the php. But do not know how it will behave if I try again to update Really Simple SSL?
Thank you for the instructions.
I renamed the Really Simple SSl as per your instruction on FTP Client
But I got confused by this:
I found 2 .htaccess: .htaccess and .htaccess.bk
Which one I need to process?
Also:
I am using on my site 2 other plugins: Wordfence and Hide my WP do they any effect on this?Hi Rogier,
Thank you for getting back to me on this so quickly. I am not good in this, but how if I remove the plugin until I get access again to my admin dashboard. Would that help=
