It doesn’t seem like “trick an iframe’s useragent/viewport size” has a reliable implementation method – but if you find one you’d like implemented I can absolutely take a look

Basically, I need to refresh my scripts etc. that execute in the footer, which calls to the page-templates.php and ultimately the fancybox javascript.

How do I go about that?

Somewhere built in my theme is a call a Fancybox script, which I need for my posts (4×4 grid of clickable pics)

That should work – the old way of doing things was

div { background-color: foobar;
background-position: foobar;
background-image: foobar;
}

etc, but thanks to shorthand properties you can combine them all on one line
div { background: #fff url(x.jpg) fixed; }
