thank you very much for your help and the (once more) great support.

Meanwhile after two very long nights, I could reproduce the error several times and after a lot of trial and error it turned out that the front end wasn’t showing because the setting for “show searched and archived to non-members” (quite like that) was disabled.

For some reason this lead to the critical error for all users (even admins).

After enabling it, everything is running smoothly.

Your plugin + add-ons could’ve saved me hours, .. weeks, of writing e-mails, trial and error, discussions etc. etc. etc.

Ironically that, if I remember correctly, this was actually the first plugin I tried. 15 other plugins which couldn’t realize what I needed, followed.. :-/

OK, now I noticed.. it’s just the starting page / overview. For some reason it shows a critical error, while all other sites work. Seems like there’s no hierarchy for the membership process.

@bcworkz You are right. In retrospect, using a different terminology would’ve made my request way more comprehensive. My first thought probably was “password” because you “pass” the blockage..
Now I see why some people had to check back with my initial inquiry..

Oh no.. Back to user roles? … And then I have to get code etc.

Well.. I’m still within the trial period for some things. It took weeks to get here and nothing has been accomplished.

I’ll just vBulletin or something similar.

I was already in touch with them a few times (actually about 2 hrs ago the last time). For now it seems, like this method is depending on a payment gateway, which (sorry for not mentioning) is not possible for us. We can only sell the codes via E-Mail (directly), via our business site or via Ebay (with Plentymarkets). Otherwise we would had to change our complete infrastructure as it would interfere with our daily routines and we have to prioritize our business partners we are working for, who get the sheets for free when they buy materials and our service from us or our affiliates. Furthermore our tax system is already automatized for sellings via E-Mail, Site and Ebay.

So all this payment methods, WooCommerce, recurring payments via WordPress etc. would cause more work without the benefits and we had to declare taxes, which would come with variations of our terms etc. and some other bureaucratic stuff (Germany.. -.- ).

I also was hoping for a way to disable the payment gateway function and / or just giving the passwords out as 100% discount codes, but it seems like no one thought of a “basic version”.

Ironic.. We need LESS features and can’t get it.

The best outcome in regards to the deposit of PWs I had with “Registration Forms”. But it lacks the ability of renewal etc..

ABSOLUTELY WEIRD that there’s not alreay a plugin for a quite simple access restriction + expiring passwords. It sounds so easy and I saw a lot of other people looking for that, but nope. \°/

TLDR: I need something without payment gateway.

thank you so much. I wrote a very long reply, which unfortunately was deleted due to an offer within (which seems to be not allowed ’round here).

However, thank you very much for your outstanding help and your time.

We had to change the approach, because, since there’s no plugin for that, it made things even harder. Which is the opposite of what we tried to achieve. ??

I’ll have to open up a new topic, maybe you are willing to contribute your knowledge there too.
