When you post to Facebook through Social, Social keeps a copy of the Facebook story ID that Facebook creates. Then it asks Facebook for information about that story ID.

If you don’t post through Social, Social has no Facebook story ID to ask about.

If you disable user creation, what account do they log in to?

You can disable Social’s comments which will hide the Social logins.

Social will find tweets that include the URL of your post, but for Facebook we need to know what the post is connected to in order to find Likes and Comments.

I did a vanilla install of WordPress to test this and cannot reproduce this problem. Please troubleshoot as diagrammed here to find the cause of your problem:

I don’t think so.

It works fine in my testing with WordPress 4.1. I recommend following this flow chart to debug your issue.
