It eventually worked. I had already used that username and another possibility with three possible passwords that I could think of over and over. Finally it took.
This may indicate that the definition of sanity is to expect different results while doing the same thing over and over.

That it did not work many times and that a reset password was never sent no matter how many times it was requested may be a problem for some, I suppose. But now it’s not a problem for me.

Other methods to reset password seem to require that I need to know my password and username (which seems to have changed somehow). If I don’t know those two things how do the other methods work?

I found my original email that told me what my username is, but the log in says that is not the username anymore. Have no idea how to proceed.

To solve the problem at hand, I just copied the post, trashed it, and re-posted/pasted it (the no-comments were in place this time). No more comment/reply reference.

Other than in some mass of header code, I haven’t found where exactly wp-cycle is supposed to be installed. It must be only for advanced users.
