Thanks Spacetime, I have enabled the remote debugging. I only have one ad block and would be happy if I could limit it to once at the top of each page and post.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] In one word, NO! Please read FULL review@karmatosed I agree with a lot of what has been said in the review and comments. I don’t think it should be baked in to the core until there is a tool which determine if it is safe to upgrade a site or not.
Getting down to specifics, one thing you guys may be able to fix is that the + sign above the blocks is obscured when you edit that block. If you want to add a block above that block you first have to click elsewhere, and only then on the +. Rather get the + to float to the right.
The other thing that really has to be fixed is having text divided up into separate blocks. This is no good for writing but having a text block with the full Tiny MC editor would be better, perhaps with an option to split text blocks at the cursor so you can insert blocks with other content if you want to.
In general, I don’t understand the motivation behind Gutenberg. It’s pretty crude when compared to the free versions of page builders such as Elementor and Beaver Builder. You would think it would need to be at least as capable and usable to win converts but it isn’t.

In reply to: [GeneratePress] The holy grail of themesPleasure. And WPShow Posts too, of course ??
When is it going to get a carousel feature BTW?

I reckon I’ll give Elementor Pro a go. Thanks very much again.
Well, that’s a surprise. I clicked Justify and that worked and then I clicked center and that worked too ?? Thanks
P.S. Do you have a preference for a slider/carousel to display portfolio posts. I’ve got a grid going using Tom’s WP Show Posts but would like to display one or more of them in pages.
Thanks Lyle. I did try clicking a few times. I wonder if some theme setting is interfering.
Hi Lyle
I’ve checked the settings for section, column and text widget and all are zero but still the strip at the bottom of https://www.allanjackson.net/staging1/allan-jackson-brisbane-specialist-pr-writer/ is too tall.I’ve had this happen with the heading widget as well.

In reply to: Media files fail to importI have solved this in an easier way if anyone’s interested. On the web I found a reference to a plugin called WP Clone. It copied across my entire original site to the new location and all I had to do was delete the pages, posts and media that I didn’t want in the new location. I then installed my new theme and styled everything.
WARNING: WP Clone will nuke the destination WP installation and you will lose everything. WP Clone IS NOT SUITABLE for merging posts from one installation into another.

In reply to: [Elementor Website Builder - More than Just a Page Builder] Pre-sale questionHi Philip
Thanks for your answers. It sounds like the product will do what I want which is to have a couple of basic lines of text always visible above paragraph text fields just like a printed form. I don’t need hover functionality or anything fancy.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Media files fail to importThanks for the answer. The posts came across fine to the new WP installation but are somehow loading images from the original installation’s media library. That’s fine for now but I am concerned that not having images in the same WP installation as the posts may cause a problem in the long-term if I ever want to move those installations to another host. With 500+ posts I don’t want to take any chances that the link between posts and images is lost.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Implementing a shipping quoteHi Lorro
Thanks for the reply. The stuff on offer is just so varied in size and weight that the request a quote method seems to me to be the best answer.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Post sidebar doesn't displayOooops! I spotted the error. The theme’s blog post setting in Customizer was set to use full-width template. Sorry all.

In reply to: [Virtue] Unexpected GapHi Kevin
The page https://www.fad.co.za/ displays correctly but the live link area (don’t know how else to describe it) seems to have shifted so that the mouse cursor doesn’t change into a pointing finger over the bottom half of the menu bar. The menu on other pages works as expected so there’s an anomaly on that front page.
Thanks

In reply to: [Virtue] More than 10 posts displayThanks very much.
Plus, my Site pages are named with a .PHP suffix and those don’t seem to have been enabled as in my main blog page at https://www.fad.co.za/diary.php/amp/ which comes up as not fount.
