Just a note to say thanks for the fix. I was puzzled by this too.

One user on my site is getting this error with Firefox and IE on Windows. I can’t reproduce creating the problem with Firefox on Mac OS, but I see the problem on the posts she’s created. This is using the Twenty Thirteen theme.

The two I’m getting are:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function the_image() in /wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/content-image.php on line 13
and
PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/content.php on line 28

I think the second is when I’m calling a page with many posts on.

Images should appear for the main story with no problems. For the small images in the columns beneath the main story are I use the optional except field. Copy the opening section of your post entry into this field and make sure the images aren’t more than about 200px wide.

I’d like to add my thanks too. I now have a custom field which allows me to use a special stylesheet for wide posts (like https://archaeoastronomy.co.uk/?p=528) but keep the sidebar for ordinary posts (like https://archaeoastronomy.co.uk/?p=585).
