for Dgold : I’ve been trying to follow Stephen Rider’s multiblog-readme.txt to the letter, but there’s something I’m consistently doing wrong. I’ve started from scratch several times now.

I’m pretty sure the symbolic link is established, but when I go to install the second blog, I get back a “404-no file found” error message.

I assume I’m interpreting the setup instructions incorrectly with regards to what goes where or I don’t have the directory tree quite right.

I’m frustrated because you make it sound so easy, and hope you can save me from walking away from what appears to be a great use of WP.

go to the https://www.www.ads-software.com main page for the download link to version 2.3.1

on the same page, you can also enter “upgrade” into the search field, and read the results

always a good idea, definitely back everything up before proceeding

contrary to what you’ll read in the “upgrade” threads, it seems to be the recommended consensus here to delete your original WP installed files and do a fresh install of the newer version of WP, rather than overwriting the old folders and files

also contrary to what you may read, don’t run “upgrade.php” or “install.php” after you FTP the new files into place

you will need to move wp-config.php from your backup to the new install

I don’t have any personal experience, but it’s my understanding if you have any plug-ins activated, you’ll need to reinstall them; also they may or may not work with the new version of WP; look for additional advice on this subject

I’m having the same problem as mmoconnor :

I can see the content and the html in the edit box before and after I save it. I can go back and edit it again and again. But I cannot get it to appear on the page!

The post preview always shows: This is a page.
The blog page itself always shows: This is a page.
But I can see my content in the edit box.

I am using the default WP 2.3 theme, but did momentarily switch to another theme to take a look at it, then went back to the default theme.

Put “multi blog” w/o the quotes into the search field and read the threads there.

I’d hold off until 2.3.1 has settled down a bit. I think I see other problems posted here. I tried upgrading from a fresh install of 2.3 and wasn’t successful.

The 2.3.1 zip file didn’t have an upgrade.php file that I could see and the “readme.html” file seemed to be for an upgrade to 2.3

I’d ignore the upgrade prompts for now.
