In reply to: [Exifography] Incorrectly read camera modelThanks for the info. In my case, it isn’t my photos that I’m having a problem with, it’s everyone in my community (or at least those who shoot with nikons). But I’ll post the info for them.

In reply to: [Exifography] Incorrectly read camera modelHi, I’m the owner of a photography community and I found this thread while researching this same issue. I’m not sure if this will help or not … but I suspect it is being caused by the new Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC. I didn’t notice this issue until 6 came out and everyone who is affected in my community just upgraded to 6. Perhaps a coincidence, but just thought I would mention my suspicion in case it helps anyone here.
I have the Dashboard ? s2Member ? API / List Servers ? Double Opt-In Checkbox option set to no – because I don’t want the checkbox. People paid so they are subscribed. Does this change that was made in v140603 mean that I have no choice but to display the checkbox or else it is deemed to be unchecked otherwise ??? It doesn’t seem right that if someone edits their profile description they get unsubscribed!
Just thought I would put a note here for anyone else who has the same problem. I just created a new admin user just in case I got locked out of the system when the EOT arrived (thanks for the advice KTS915). But when the EOT arrived nothing happened. The EOT date just disappeared and I’m still there as the admin user. Weird …
I figured out the problem, so I thought I would just put a note here in case anyone else has the same problem.
It turns out that it was being caused by a plugin I was using “bp disable activation”. There is now a new plugin called “bp disable activation reloaded” and now that I am using it the problem is gone.
Well … I don’t know … honestly it’s making my head hurt. I don’t really get why I would have to do that when everything worked just fine when I did a sale on July 1st. Then the plugins were updated and this problem turned up when I did a sale on August 1st. According to issue #162, it was supposed to be fixed, but it isn’t. I’m not a developer … so … I don’t know what to do.
I don’t know if I want to just start adding code that turns off the buddypress registration … because what’s that going to do to all the buddypress profile stuff?
I wish there was premium support because I would happily pay for someone who knows what they’re doing to solve this problem for me. I don’t want to start messing around with how registration works.
I appreciate your effort KTS915, thanks. I just wish they would fix the bug so I could update the plugin and have everything work the way it used to.
Hi KTS915, thanks for trying. I put that code into the s2hacks.php file, but it didn’t make any difference. New accounts are still coming in as “participant” (which is their forum role) and their main role says “no role for this site” instead of “basic member” (which is the level 1 member name).
anyone? all my new members are coming in as participants instead of basic members.
Well, I don’t want to use another admin account because it’s a membership site and I have all kinds of posts associated with my account. But I’ll set up another admin account just so I don’t get locked out. If anyone knows how I can remove the EOT date, I would really appreciate it!
Hi Christian,
I wish it was feasible to test all the plugins, but there are 20 of them, and it’s a live site so I can’t just start removing stuff when people are using it. It wouldn’t work to test using the test site since it isn’t connected to mailchimp. Plus, it works half the time, so you would think if its a plugin conflict it wouldn’t work at all.
I just had another set of demotions. There were 16 all together. 9 worked and 7 didn’t work.
The only thing that stands out is that for every one that failed, there is one that worked at the exact same time. But then again I have 3 that worked at exactly 12:48 on the same day, so that rules out that too I think. I don’t know. It’s frustrating to have to check them all manually each time.
Is there not some way I can force the lists to sync? Even if it doesn’t happen automatically like it should, can’t I run some kind of function to make it sync?
Sorry, three of them were removed from mailchimp and two were not.
Hi Christian,
Sorry for the delay, but I had to wait for some people to be demoted.I found essentially nothing, but to answer your questions:
1. I reviewed the mailchimp log. I can paste in the whole log if it would help but I found that on June 26th five people who had cancelled their subscriptions were demoted. Only two of them were removed from the mailchimp list. One of them happened at 12:48pm. The two that didn’t work should have happened at 12:48pm, but they did not happen. There is no mention of those two in the log file at all. The fourth person was demoted and removed from mailchimp at 1:01 and the last at 1:10pm.
Is it possible that the problem is that the two that were missed had the same time stamp on them? I don’t know what I could do about that, but that’s the only suspicious thing I found.
2. Yes, the two people who were not removed had the same email address in wordpress as they had in mailchimp.
3. Yes, they were in the list for s2members at the “basic” membership level (it’s the only level) and were demoted to “free”.
I really appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.
Anne.Through research, I have answered my own question.
In case anyone else needs to know, when you issue a refund via paypal, the integration with s2members will demote the user. But it doesn’t cancel the recurring payment!! (This seems like a pretty big oversight, why would anyone want free subscribers who are still paying??) You have to refund AND cancel the recurring payment at paypal.
