Sorry that this plugin didn’t work for you. You are right that the plugin maintains user info separately but that is completely in sync with wordpress database. so when you create an account in the plugin, it also creates an account in wordpress system and vice versa. when you log into the plugin, it also automatically logs you in wordpress system. we are happy to investigate if it doesn’t work this way.

When someone pays, the account is created with partial info. The registration process is not complete. User needs to complete registration. Once the registration is complete, user name will no longer be empty.

You can his account status to pending. That way he won’t be able to log in.

well its good that wordpress has rating system for plugins but its bad at the same time that it doesn’t have rating system for users. that way we could have saved our time by avoid some retarded users.

look and feel related feature doesn’t mean that its about css, js, html. as you know, a significant part of wp theme code is written in php. s2member works with menu doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to work with simple membership. our core design principle is to keep it really simple and easy. we try to implement features that 90% of the plugin users look for. menu integration is not something that we see very frequently being requested. if we see that and if it can be done not in some hacky way then we will consider adding it to core plugin. but for the time being, you can do it like the way Hotham did.

simple membership plugin only protects content. it doesn’t control the look and feel of your site. if you want to control menu then you will have to customize it.

on your second point, yes you can customize messages. there is an addon for doing whole lot of customization.
