sorted, your reply got me thinking and I changed where the <p> tag was in my style sheet to just above the <h1> tag and voila, it worked.

thanks Terriann. I did try the firebug, it looked like everything was ok.

I had put <h1> tags and they change the font style fine. Not realy sure I know what I am looking for in firebug though
