In reply to: [Front End PM] Edit or delete messages?And what’s worse, my the link to the Mailbox page used to appear on the forum pages, and now it’s gone. AND, logged in as administrator and Keymaster, when I try to access the Mailbox page, it throws a “You do not have permission to access message system” error message!

In reply to: [WP Hide Title] Suddenly stopped workingI had some issues with both this plugin, so I deleted it and installed a similar one, but with that one I discovered that it wouldn’t work whenever a page title had certain characters in it – such as the apostrophe in “President’s Message” and the ampersand in “Plans & Handouts”. Sometimes it just didn’t work to name the page something different without those special characters, as I wanted them to appear just that way in the menu.
I found a workaround for the issue, which my theme author suggested. If it’s not working only on some pages, you might explor this option. Add to your Custom Css:
.page-id-#### .entry-title { display:none; }
replacing the #### with the page id number of the page where the plugin is not working. If you don’t know how to find that, just open the editing screen for the page, and on the right side, where it says, “Status”, mouse over the word “published”. In your browser’s status bar it should show the link for the page, and the post number is shown as “post=##”.

In reply to: [Longevity] Question about auto-generated image sizesI’m all set as far as needing help…if I experiment with the plugin I can let you know the results, but for now I think we can call it resolved.

In reply to: [Longevity] Question about auto-generated image sizesAlso, on that website I was using that third party plugin to create the lightbox galleries, and I didn’t know what using that plugin might do to the galleries I’d created with it…and there were a ton of them!

In reply to: [Longevity] Question about auto-generated image sizesThanks for checking….Great article! I only wish I’d seen it six months ago! I will certainly keep this in mind when building future websites!
I finally resolved this particular issue by getting in touch with the web host to find out WHAT was going on with the sudden disk space crisis, since the site only went over the 500mb limit AFTER I’d moved the files out into the root folder. I never did get a really clear answer, but after they did some back-of-house cleaning outside of my root folder, the disk space dropped to a manageable level. So I decided against using that plug-in to clean up the upload directories for fear that many image links would be broken. The website had JUST been launched to the public, and I didn’t want to risk it.
I should try it out on another site, one that doesn’t have so many photos to worry about. The other issue I have is downloading backups – my swine satellite internet plan has a limited data allowance, so unless I want to make backups between 2AM and 8AM, I end up digging deeply into my data allowance just to make a backup.

In reply to: [Optimize Images Resizing] Urgent questions on processing existing imagesOne last (I think) question – As I said, most of my images are no larger than 1024 X ?; however, my banner images are 1920 X 384. What will happen to them when I run the Clean Up feature?

In reply to: [Longevity] Question about auto-generated image sizesThanks, I will certainly make a backup, and with the information from the plugin author on this thread I think I might give it a try after creating a backup.

In reply to: [Optimize Images Resizing] Urgent questions on processing existing imagesOK, so when you say “when it is requested” do you mean requested from the website creator through the admin panel? Or requested from the visitor’s browser?

In reply to: [Optimize Images Resizing] Urgent questions on processing existing imagesWhen I upload an image to the media gallery, and insert it in a page, to begin with I’m presented with a list of three default sizes – thumbnail, medium, and full size. But once the image has been inserted into the page, if I click the “edit” button, there’s another choice – “Custom size” – where I can make an infinite adjustment on the exact size I want the image to display as. Some of the standalone images on the pages I’ve made on this site are set to display as a custom size instead of one of the default sizes.

In reply to: [Optimize Images Resizing] Urgent questions on processing existing imagesit cleans up all image sizes (other than the default ones) and then it generates them again as they are requested.
Does this mean that for all the images currently on the site, if I have set the image to display as a “custom size”, when I run the cleanup on the existing media, I will have to go back through the entire site and re-set the custom sizes before they will display that way?
