Never mind. I just deleted the whole thing and started from scratch, adding plugins and themes back one at a time. My posts are restored, but none of the associated tags and the users. Some creative editing of the original SQL backup file should fix that.

    Forgot…

    WordPress 4.5.2

    Also tried disabling all plugins.

Fixed. I was the victim of this case-sensitive crap on the user ID.

As a programmer, I consider it sloppy/lazy coding to allow a user to enter something such as a user ID, force it to lower (or upper) case when stuffed into the database, and not do the exact same thing when the user logs in.

I’m convinced that todays’ programmers are so used to using libraries and canned functions, that they have forgotten about the little things.

Of course, the whole mixed case debacle started with Unix and perpetrated to this day where aa, Aa, aA, and AA are all different. This is one area where DOS and subsequently Windows gets it right.

I took over a project once where the original owner was on a Mac. They named all of the images similarly, changing only the case. You can imagine the nightmare that that became.

(I’ll get off of my soapbox now!)

    Again, thanks for your help.

    Yes, that’s the correct URL.

I just tried it again with no luck.

I’ve tried typing the new password manually, as well as doing a copy and paste. I still get the login failed error.

Thanks James! I’m up and running again.

I pulled down the botched site as a ‘just in case’ back-up, reloaded 4.3.1 and everything seems to be working ok.

(I also the 4-H site in the original post. Unfortunately, WordPres.org won’t let me log in under 4HHistory. But, that’s a new support request on another board.)

    Thanks again.

    Ah-ha! Yes, it IS there.

Now that I’m clear on where to look, I installed it on another site, and it shows up just fine.

    Thanks for your help.

    Pippin,
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘toolbar’, but here is the list of installed plugins on the site in question.

    Thanks.

EXCELLENT! Installed it this morning and it’s working fine with your sample page.

Now all I have to do is get the facebook settings correct. Before I get too frustrated, does your plugin work with closed groups if I’m not an administrator?

    Thanks for the help.

The plugin directory still shows v1.0, even though it says that it was updated 8 hours ago.

Thanks Dale. So, if I understand you correctly, when I’m creating a new post, all I need do is add tags before clicking on ‘Publish’, and WordTwit will automatically convert them to hashtags. Correct?

WordPress is provided as a service through my hosting provider.

I’ve gone through the directories for the application, but can’t find a .htaccess file.

    Under htdocs, I also have wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes.

    I’m not using cpanel.

(To say that I’m new to both WordPress and php would be a gross understatement. ?? )

    Thanks.
