In reply to: [Translate WordPress and go Multilingual - Weglot] flag in menu / nav bar?Hello @wpr0ck
thank you for your reply.
1) Just to be sure that I get that right as I can’t believe it to be true:
The price of a Weglot subscription depends on the total number of words on my website, even if one would do all the translations by oneself?
Like I have a blog with 10 blog posts in German & English, 1000 words each, plus a few words on the about me page, (let’s say altogether 10,100 words), all translated by myself, than I’d have to pay 190€ per year (> 10,000 words, < 50,000 words) although I didn’t use any translations?2) I understand about the settings and it’s exactly what I did.
But these settings only change the appearance of the language selection with the shortcode, not in the nav bar. In the nav bar it’s always text only.Local Bitnami installation.
Wordpress & theme “Thrive Theme Builder” & page builder “Thrive Architect” are all up to date.So just for the fun of it I switched to GeneratePress Theme (although I have premium I deactivated the plugin “GeneratePress Premium” and used just the naked theme) and deactivated ALL plugins.
The language switch in the nav bar is now flag AND text, although I deactivated all options except for “show flag”. The shortcode and the widget show dopdown menus (which I deactivated as previously stated), flags and language name text (which I deactivated as previously stated). As everything is up to date on my installation and all plugins are deactivated and this is a pretty fresh WP installation, that looks a lot like Weglot compatibility problems with two of the most popular and well-programmed themes (both of which are known to be strict by the official WP rules).
As much as I want to like Weglot for it’s ease of use, if you don’t have any other suggestions what might be the problem (Bitnami?) sadly I have to buy Polylang or WPML. Hoping for your answer!

Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Polylang] Language Selection for menu not there (and no screen option also)After deleting polylang manually via FTP (delete the folder wp-content > plugins > polylang and the folder wp-content > languages) and re-installing it everything works fine.
Have fun with this nice plugin!

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Date jumps to a different when savingHi aerin,
I really love your dedication! ??
I tried the new one version: German WP, created event, published, date jumps back.
BUT: Then I changed the word Okt manually to Oct in the date picker and then it worked and it auto-corrected to the German ‘Okt’ even in the datepicker field!
I remember after manual correction to the English Oct it was correct on the front end (showing the German ‘Okt’), but I’m not sure about the datepicker in the backend. I think that this is now corrected is new. So maybe you are getting closer.Hope this helps,
AndiPS Sorry my answers take several hours, today I had a 7 hour ride in the car to my gig (35 degrees Celsius outside, no air-conditioning, oh boy … ??
Tomorrow I’m on the road also. I’ll gladly test any new tweaks, just give me some time to get an internet connection.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Date jumps to a different when savingHi aerin,
over the weekend I’m on tour giving Blues guitar workshops and concerts, so I did just a very quick test on a not needed website:
Uploaded the new plugin file, activated it, changed the WordPress language to German, created an event, changed the date, published the event: The date jumped back to today. Not working. ??Best,

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Date jumps to a different when savingHi aerin,
thanks for your quick response!I used the datepicker and as it didn’t work I tried to enter the date manually (with the same result: the date jumps back).
My WordPress-installation is in German.
I double-checked and that was really the problem. Here are two ways to make it work:
- Changing WordPress to English, changing the date, saving the event and changing WordPress back to German (even before publishing, I just saved the event as draft, changed back the language to German and then published the event).
- Leaving WordPress in German, using the datepicker, but changing the date manually to English: When picking a date on a German WordPress installation the date goes to say 31 Okt. I changed the k to c (31 Oct as it would be in English) and published / safed as draft and it works perfectly also.
Topic marked as solved.

In reply to: [SiteOrigin CSS] OKI had a request posted on the forum and got an answer in less than 90 minutes. My problem was solved with that answer. 5 star plugin and 5 star support. And nope, I posted on the free users forum, I don’t have their premium theme version. I offered a tip for their help and great plugins, but they refused. Now how cool is that?

Life (or CSS) can be so simple, if someone knows what he is doing… ??Thanks a lot for your help,

In reply to: [Superhero] Changing a few minor things with CSSI fooled around a little more adding max-width / max-height and width / height, but there is still this strange big red border when hovering over the flag…

In reply to: [Superhero] Changing a few minor things with CSSHi sacredpath,
many thanks for your help and the useful links!
I will read about child themes very soon. (I’m a WP newbie. Right now I’m just trying out different plugins, customizing code etc. When I know what plugins I need and what not and what I can do with the code, I will start with a fresh WP installation including child theme).
The link underline deletion worked like a charm!
Also the flags are bigger now. But the small ones are still visible above them. BTW: I made them big in the first place, but there seems to be some code in the nav bar that overwrites this and makes them small. (On the German flag I deleted the following code to see what happens, but this makes things even worse:
display: block;
width: 50px;
I leave it for now so you can see what happens.)The widgetizing seems to be a little bit of learning, so I have to postpone this to next week.
If you have any idea about the Little flags still appearing, that would be much appreciated. ??
Thanks again,

In reply to: [Superhero] Changing a few minor things with CSSOne last question, a minor thing and maybe a tough one to solve?
– There is a parent link in my navi (“mehr…”) that let’s you reach some child pages. This parent page is empty and should stay empty. I have seen on another website that they had a parent nav item that was not linking anywhere but instead just opening the child navigation links. Any idea how I could change that? That’s a lot of questions and I hope they are not too stupid.
But even if this is the first website I build myself I have a clear vision of how it should work and look like. (As a professional Blues musician, guitar teacher and author I feel that my website should meet the quality of my music and my teaching ??
If I can give something back for your help (like a donation or a free guitar lesson via skype) I’d be more than happy to do so! I strongly believe in reciprocal treatment (yepp, I looked that one up in my English dictionary…)Thanks once more,
Andi
