i guess it`s a little bug in the template code.
the author of the template wanted to show how many comments there are in an article.
in this article you have 4 comments:

and it says “4”

the “one” text should be in fact “1”.

you need to find and edit the sourcecode of the template to correct this.

wordpress templates are not dependent on the OS you are using. the template files will work fine on a mac too.

i`m not a mac user, but is it not possible to unzip ZIP files on a mac? if not, get a converting software to extract the contents.

or…upload the zip file to the templates directory on your server and use the server`s file manager to extract the content of the archive.

just opened the page with several browsers (ff, ie 6&7, opera), and it stays still. no scrolling happens here.

check your mousewheel, maybe its pressed down, happens quite often to me and its annoying.

i don`t see any problems in adding static html. i do it all the time.

the problem in your site is not WP-related,, but CSS positioning related.

if you are using firefox, install Firebug and inspect the code.

you will notice the the DIV called “header-menu” is absolutely positioned, and slides over the top part of your post.

the titles “2009 Cadillac..” and “Final Veyron” are covered by this DIV.

(if you hover the mouse over the number “2” from the big title, you will see that it is clickable)

edit:
simply go to the css file, line 92, and reduce the height from 100 to 50px, and it will work.

to apply a different css to pages and posts, simply isntall the great Classy Body Plugin ( https://www.alistercameron.com/2007/01/04/wordpress-plugin-classybody/ ). this will add extra classes to the BODY tag, and based on this, you can create different styles for absolutely ANY individual page, post, archive, categorym etc.

i made custom templates several times in older WP versions, exactly how you describe it, but now it just wouldn`t work.

the only solution i`ve found is the one in my previous message.

i`m using a clean 2.8.4 WP version, not an auto upgrade.

ok, solution found:

in Appearance – Templates, change the template to Default, then back to your template, and the dropdown with the custom templates will appear in the Attributes box.

this is weird…a bug maybe? or some caching error?

mizzinc, thanks, your solution worked here too. i`ve spent 1hr trying to figure out why the Templates dropdown menu does not appear in the Attributes Box.

could this be a bug or something?
