In reply to: WordPress SEO Changing PermalinksThank you. You are indeed correct:) It looks like everything redirected properly.
Except, there seems to be a ‘dash’ in front of my Site Name (Home Page only) when I open it in a Tab. I’m not sure how I got that. I disabled the SEO feature in my WP Weaver Theme, as instructed so I can use your plugin. I don’t know if this is the cause. It just looks weird.https://www.visitbanteaychhmar.org/
Honestly, this plugin intimidates me a little and I hope I can use it with few problems. It seems like it has some great features. The jargon/terms are new and confusing to me.
Are there some features I can skip over? For example, I have no RSS.
My website is small and will never be a high-traffic website (a remote tourist destination in Cambodia), but I would like to build my site correctly.
BTW, Google Analytics is very very cool.
Thanks, I hope I won’t need a lot of help.
AndrewYes, thanks.
I just sent a small donation your way. I live in rural Cambodia working for a small NGO, so I don’t have much to send. Hope it helps, anyway.I’ll start a new forum thread if I need more help. I’m still having some problems getting all my gallery pix the same size whether I use the ‘Resize’ button or not.
Will let you know if I can’t figure it out. Thanks again.
Great plugin and support.
AndrewHi,
Yes, it opens fine; not sure what step I missed the first time:(
However, there are some punctuation mistakes (, where there should be;) in the ‘Countries’ list which might throw some people off because the full country list won’t display as is.
I corrected the punctuation errors, along with deleting a few locations/countries which really aren’t countries and I renamed a few countries, too, for ease and display.
I can send you the list if you want, but where/what email to send it too?
People can look at my country dropdown list for reference.

Andrew– I love Long Beach, WA. I used to live in Portland and made 4-5 trips there a year.
Hi,
I might be wrong, but I think the file is empty. I downloaded, tried to extract – all I see is an empty text file that says ‘States’
Did I miss something in the process?1) The Sidebar widget, specifically. It has settings for Photo Widget Width: pixels and padding top/left. If I increase the pixel size I can center it (keeping the padding=5), but the image is too big.
I want to keep the same image size, but center it in the sidebar. If I increase the padding to center it, the image also moves down by the same amount, away from the Widget Title (Award Winner). It’s currently set at 20 pixels. Like I said, I can live with it, but it’d be nice to adjust horizontally/vertically separately, unless I’m missing a way to do it now.2) I think I’m seeing the how important the issue of aspect ratio is.
I can set the height to 600 and the ‘smaller’ images I mentioned then horizontally fill the full frame. However, this, of course, makes everything vertically bigger so vertical images aren’t fully visible and the caption and lower navigation bar are no longer visible on the screen (14″ screen).
I think I have to decide on a full/gallery size that I’ll be comfortable with, has a good aspect ratio, looks good and is functional for both horiz/vert images.
This is correct, right?Thanks
Andrew
https://www.visitbanteaychhmar.org/?page_id=662Hi,
I’m 98% there:) Mostly, I just need to pick and choose photos. Just a few minor things and I’ll be ok (for a while I hope:)1) Is there a ‘magic way’ to center the photo sidebar widget without also moving the image down to the right. My padding (top/left) is currently set at 20 which is almost centered. It seems I could do it by enlarging the image, but I much prefer the smaller image size. I want the WPPA Slideshow to have more prominence in the sidebar area. Honestly, I could live with it as it is. Maybe it’s a ‘wish list’ item.
2) On my Gallery Page, some of my photos are still a bit smaller than the full frame size, even though when I look at the image size I uploaded it’s larger than 800×532
Example: Ox-cart ride = 1400x1050x24b 612kb
If I upload the full-size (2048×1536 750kb)it’s the same size.
Again, I can live with it for a few images. Mostly, I’m curious as to ‘why’ to help me understand the relationships between photo size, pixels, aspect ratio etc. This photo (and the other ‘smaller ones’ in the gallery did come from a different camera) which I think is the reason, but I don’t understand the reason.
Are there any good articles/resources on this you know about?2) My big ‘wish list’ item is a stylish container/background (maybe with image/container border options) for the slideshow. If this could be put into the Settings I’m sure many of us would love it – for those of us who are too uncertain about writing and inserting code properly. A future wish list item, please.
3) Donation. I don’t see a PayPal donation (like many other plugin authors) on your website. I’d be happy to send you a few $ for a great plugin and great service.
Ok, thanks again and I’m almost there:)
Andrew
[ Signature moderated. ]I am almost there, and I hope this is a reasonable question:
I converted my WP Gallery Page to single column (no sidebar – looks much better).
I set the the Column Width and Image Size to 800 pixels (480 Height) – this seems to match the page template because the WPPA Navigation bars are the same length as the ‘bar line’ under the Page Title which is set in the WP Weaver admin.
I did not check the ‘Resize on Upload’ box because the images I’m using are 1600×1200 (I know a little big, but not huge). But, shouldn’t the image be the same width as the Navigation Bar – 800 pixels? The images are smaller. It’s a minor discrepancy and I could live with it. But, I’m not sure why and what I am missing?
And, are 1600x images ok, or do you feel/think I should resize to 1024 or 1200?
As always, many thanks
AndrewHi,
I’m sorry, I totally forgot about the ‘Import’ function. I have a question related to it.
My Media Library has a total of 151 images in it.
When I use the Import function, it’s showing almost every possible size variant of my images (500+ images).
For example in the folder: WP-Contents/Upload/20011/3 (uploads from this month into the WP Media Library) I see the following choices for importing for 1 image. They’re all the same image – different sizes.DSC_0019-1024×680.jpg DSC_0019-150×150.jpg DSC_0019-250×166.jpg
DSC_0019-300×199.jpg DSC_0019-640×480.jpg DSC_0019-940×1000.jpg DSC_0019.jpgIt wants me to choose importing from 7 different sizes of the same photo. I certainly never uploaded or created 7 different files in the WP ML.
1) I don’t understand why
2) Is this a Media Library issue or a WPPA issue?
3) Best suggestion? Upload the largest size I may need? Thanks
AndrewHi,
Does that mean a WPPA option from the WP Media Library? It’s getting much better with the few changes you’ve made. I’ll put in my wish list for a few more – all with good intentions:)– full-screen slideshow option
– crop/rotate etc after uploading in case somebody makes a mistake/or forgets to edit before uploading
– I haven’t check yet, but can you have different size slideshows on different pages?
– I’m not smart enough to follow the custom template instructions (though I will try again!), so if (some of) those customizing options could be built into the admin options at some future point. Your plugin is way easier to use, but the others I’m testing have just a little more pizazz and style to them.
I’d prefer to use yours in the long-term.
Thanks
AndrewHi,
At the bottom of my Gallery page are the 2 images (WPPA on top; Media Library below). The whole image is ‘wrapped’ in ML.
Yes, I’d think most people would want the title of the picture on the hover. But, I’m guessing some people don’t want it. So, it probably needs to be an option. I’m not sure how much work that would involve for a future upgrade. Thanks
AndrewI think I forgot to include my website link:( Sorry.
Andrew
Hi,
That was a quick fix and almost perfect. The border doesn’t wrap around the whole image and the caption text looks like it’s ‘top-justified.’The scrollover of the images says ‘test.’
If you look at the images on my other pages (inserted using WP media library) and compare to your upgrade I think you’ll see what I mean.
Thanks again, it’s getting better.
AndrewThank you for the kind reply. I’m still ‘test-driving’ your plugin along with a couple others before I make a final decision. I saw the 3.0 upgrade; very nice to have a ‘copy photo’ option.
I’m sure your very busy and have plenty of requests. To me, the biggest ‘need‘ is the ability to add photos with descriptions/captions into pages and posts. This eliminates double-uploading to your gallery and the WP media library.
After that, some nice styling features/skins/background options would be an added bonus.
It’s still a very nice plugin with good support and admin.BTW, I don’t have any dog photos in my gallery (#1A from above). Check my page again. I’m running your gallery with 2 others as tests.
Thanks, good luck
AndrewAnd, the music still auto-plays on your website:(
