In reply to: theme check fail and tags in the loopThe two issues are as follows
REQUIRED: This theme doesn’t seem to display tags. Modify it to display tags in appropriate locations.
REQUIRED: Could not find wp_link_pages in the PHP files. The theme must use wp_link_pages() to provide for multi-page posts.
The second is easily fixable, but the theme ‘not displaying tags’ makes me think that I need to have tags appear in connection with my posts which I’d prefer not to do.
I suppose, if that were the issue, I could simply add them with a note in the “read me” saying the theme wasn’t designed with tags in mind.

In reply to: my first wordpress theme: just enough is more.The text is large, but I was actually modeling it after the size I prefer to read longer form articles on other sights. Generally, I am forced to use readability in order to do that. Twelve and even Ten point typefaces are certainly readable in print, but there is something about a screen which seems to demand larger text to my eye. I am not sure why.
I do think, however, a slightly smaller sans-serif would probably play well with the layout, but I also wanted to use a browser ‘safe’ typeface so it could remain open source and none of the standard san-serifs are ever remotely palatable to me.

In reply to: theme check fail and tags in the loopTo be honest, resolved more meant “resigned” to not have the theme in the official repository, but that’s helpful. It gives me a better context to figure out what I might be missing. Thanks.

As for plugins it really depends on what you are looking to do. The plugins repository is pretty good for just browsing.

In reply to: Plugin for MarginaliaI happen to know of one currently in development. It doesn’t allow for outside comments, but great as an alternative to footnotes. When something is ready to be released, I’ll post a link to it here.

In reply to: My first WordPress site. Feedback would be much appreciated.also, the “site map” header is hard to read, particularly the “m” in map. Unbolding it should help.
When you click on pages that don’t require a scrolling, the page shifts slightly to the left. It’s a common problem since most modern browsers will eliminate the scroll bar when it isn’t need. Add this code to force a the scroll bar there to prevent the slight shift:
html { overflow-y: scroll; margin: 28px; }
