In reply to: The Usual UPGRADE fiasco!Hello Jonathan,
Thanks for your interest.
Basically, all images disappeared from pages and posts.
I’m not sure about the Media Library, but I think the images were still there. On this occasion the problem only arose if I wasn’t logged-in. That’s why it took a while to realise it had happened. I upgraded to 6.7 and on this occasion all seemed OK – until later, when I was told it was not!
Debug was not enabled – is there any retrospective info I can dig up?
Both sites use Twenty TwentyFour, and have Yoast, Clean Talk etc – but as all the images were there if an admin was logged-in, I don’t see how that can make a lot of difference.
I tried updating WP on staging, and the symptoms were exactly the same.
The domain is https://sheepdog-training.com – but all should be working now (I hope)!
Thanks again for your help,
AndyMy apologies to @properlypurple – I should have responded to their last comment, because when I nested the content inside a group block within the editor, the problem went away.
I don’t understand why it didn’t work the first time I tried it, but it’s worked perfectly ever since.Thank you @properlypurple. Unfortunately that didn’t work.
The Content block was already inside a Group block, but I followed your instructions to be sure I had done it correctly, and it made no difference.
Why on earth the content doesn’t stay within the specified width of a Group block, I do not understand.
An example of what I mean is on this link (make the browser window wide to see what I mean) although I will edit it within a few days.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Four] Navigation works in editor but not liveHello @properlypurple, apologies for the delay in replying. (I have the reply box checked and my email is current but for some reason I no longer get notifications when people reply on this forum).
For that site, I completely built a new Navigation from scratch – and it worked.
Unfortunately, since then, I built a third one on another of our sites, and that didn’t work properly either. It seems crazy to me that building a Menu in WP is such a slow, laborious process, and once created, you cannot copy and paste it into another site. (WHY?)
Now I’m in the process of abandoning WP Navigation altogether, and adapting a responsive dropdown I found on W3Schools. Their stuff works! (Once I get my head round it)!

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Four] Navigation works in editor but not liveThanks @harry-hobbes. As I said in my OP all eight menu items are in the Editor version of the header.
They are visible both in the main window, and in the sidebar – on both sides. The navigation appears normally in Blog Home, Pages, Archive and Posts Templates. The problem is, the ‘Training’ menu does not appear on any live pages or posts.
I find it hard to believe that linking to another site will have any effect, in fact the menu which is missing has most of its links pointing to the same website.
I’m more than happy to listen if you have a reason to think external links might be a problem though…

Thank you also to @foosantos.
I cannot see an “All Archives” option within Site Editor > Templates in Twenty Twenty Three.
Am I missing something?
(I did mention in my OP that “changing title font weights in the Archive template has no effect either”.
Apologies to you as well, for the late reply. I don’t get an email even though I checked the “Notify” box below.- This reply was modified 1 year ago by andynick. Reason: Added paragraph about having tried to change font weights in the Editor
Thank you @h_double – and apologies for the late response. I’m afraid your suggestion is way beyond me! I prefer to change the font sizes in the Editor or with CSS if I can. That often stretches my limited brain, withouth venturing into theme.json.
But thank you for trying to help.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Three] ‘Footnote’ text in Custom Fields – Why?WELL – I EVENTUALLY, discovered that you can hide these unwanted “Panels” by clicking the three dots at the top of the edit page, then Panels > Custom Fields.
(You need to save your selection before it will work).
They don’t believe in making these things easy, do they?
My thanks to @jordesign for your help.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Three] ‘Footnote’ text in Custom Fields – Why?Hello @jordesign – thanks for your reply (and apologies for not getting back to you sooner).
The Footnote is still there if I deactivate ALL plugins – and yes, I recently updated to WP 6.3.
If the WP update is the cause, I can’t see why we should all be subjected to it (there’s enough clutter at the foot of an edit page anyway).
I wonder more people haven’t asked about it.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Yoast SEO] No SEO Option for Home Page??It seems it is perfectly possible after all. I got this from Yoast today:
“Go to Yoast SEO > Settings > Homepage to go to the Homepage settings in Yoast SEO”.
More information is available here.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast settings on Full Site Editor Homepage templateHmm… Over four months later, I’m wondering if there been any progress with this? I’ve spent many hours working on Yoast SEO, but if it can’t be applied to the Home page (with Settings > Reading set to “Latest Posts”) there doesn’t seem to be much point.
@suascat_wp mentioned that Yoast’s product team would assess the issue and give it a priority according to its severity – if nothing has happened in four and a half months, I fear I may be looking for a different SEO option. (I’m using Twenty Twenty Two and Three themes).Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Why does WP meddle with CUSTOM HTML?Thank you for your reply @nagpai but I have to wonder whether you’re aware of W3Schools..?
I’m not talking about my html and CSS here, I’m talking about theirs. That’s why I included the link.Have you see the mess the WP Navigation Block displays when viewed on older devices? It’s not a good advert for WordPress. A great many people still use older devices, and they are too often disregarded by developers.
It’s ridiculously tricky to have a variety of menus in navigation blocks (why?) and it’s also difficult to change the hamburger cut-off point on the Navigation Block – very frustrating.
Thanks @hikinmike – I thought I’d seen it somewhere but couldn’t remember where it was.
I’ve been searching for a way to do this – why-oh-why can’t I learn to come here first!
Thanks for the information @zoonini!

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Three] Create New NavigationI just went to mark this topic as ‘Resolved’ but someone had beaten me to it! Surely the thread starter should decide whether the topic is resolved or not.
Of course, some people don’t bother to do that, so after a few weeks of inactivity it would be understandable if an admin were to mark the topic ‘resolved’ (if it looked resolved) – but my second post clearly showed I had not found an answer.
