Have you used Gutenberg since it was merged into WordPress Core? Has your experience improved at all?

Hi @adrianc027, I haven’t experienced this myself, but it sure sounds frustrating!

I know you can click on the gear icon in the top right hand corner, which hides and shows the column to the right, is that what you are referring to, perhaps? If you don’t have a block selected, and you are in the Block part of the right sidebar, it does look suspiciously empty (it will only say No block selected.).

Something that I like to do to check out what my post looks like before I publish is to use the preview function! To access that, when you are writing a post, click on Preview in the top right hand corner. That will help you see what your post looks like before you publish.

I hope this helps! If this doesn’t address the problems you are facing, would you mind providing some extra details around the issue, such as what “split down the middle” means?

I agree that while WordPress worked very well for many people, what was easy for you was sometimes confusing to other users! Blocks offer more functionality and allow for multiple media and visual elements. It is a definitely a big change, however.
