Yep, a different plugin lol

The plugin started working properly, couldnt figure out why at first. I had installed a different gallery and put the new shortcode underneath on the same page, it was this that was causing it to appear properly for some reason, remove the other shortcode for the other plugin and it went back to stupid thumbs again..

Deffo not a cache issue, tried that a few times…

Sacked the plugin and used a different one instead…shame because this plugin is actually better, or would be, if it worked properly!!

THats wierd….. looks fine now…. very strange!!!

I have taken it out of maintenance for now so you can see it…

Im having problems updating my videos. All i get is a 403 forbidden page.

We have recently moved our hosting to Powered by Penguins and im wondering if its a permissions thing or something I need to talk to the hosts about??

Only seems to be when I try to update my videos. Everything else is working fine.

I have a few ideas which I feel might improve this already brilliant plugin (im sucking up a little here but i was always told flattery gets you everywhere!! :o) )

1. Ability to add videos from a youtube playlist. Sometimes i find videos on a certain authors channel that i like but they just have one i like and 10 others that i wouldnt want on my site. With a playlist i could add that 1 video to it. Not even sure this would be possible but could be a great feature.

2. Auto exerpts with thumbnail images (as used in the gallery) so that if a video shows up in a tag page, search query or the external videos category page it shows the description only and the thumbnail on the left.

3. Ability to update a single author manually. Sometimes, as i have quite alot of authors, it can take a long time to find new videos and occasionally it will time out. Particularly if i have just added a new author who has alot of videos.

I realise you are busy and this plugin is probably way down on your to do list, but just thought i would share my ideas with you…

Just an observation here….

When you go into editor all the files still say 0.7 in the headers… “the system” doesnt get the version from that does it???

Downloaded the latest version and it works perfectly!!!!

Many thanks for all your help through this. The actual problem is still there but at least External Videos is working as it should now!!!

Just one note, when you look on the plugin page it still says version 0.7, and also doesnt show as an update in admin. Downloads as 0.11 if you do it manually

I have updated the plugin. The new link to the video page is on there but still the thickbox doesnt embed the video

Im pretty sure the problem isnt anything to do with the plugin, but i cannot find what it actually is. Support from the main forum has been sketchy and im at a loss as to what to do.

The only thing i can think of is to modify the shortcode so that it deactivates the thickbox and simply redirects to the relevant video page instead.

Any clues on how to do this would be gratefully received!!

Hi Silvia, apologies, I have only just seen this.

We are currently running WP 3.1.1

The issue still exists but only within the thickbox.

How would i go about editing the shortcode so that the thumbs are still created and clickable, but instead of the thickbox opening it simply redirects to the relevant video page (IE ../?post_type=external-videos&p=XXX)

If only it was that simple. This problem, whatever it is, is breaking one of my plugins.

I have managed to sort a work around for part of it, but this isnt fixing the actual problem. And my video galleries wont embed because of it.

Its not any plugins causing it as i have tried disabling every plugin, and i have changed the theme. The issue is still there.

I have also tried re updating wordpress….

I have managed to sort out a workaround for the individual posts by changing this
$video_content .= $video['videourl'];

to this
$video_content .= "</p>".$video['videourl'];

Then deleting all videos, and re searching for them. The posts are then updated with the same code but with </p> in front of the code.

The thick box however is a different beast. Everything i try just moves the info down a line and it doesnt embed. I have tried various methods but nothing seems to work.

Ill let you know any further developments, although im struggling to get anywhere on the support forum.
