Hi. Using latest version of wordpress, php v8.2, blocksy theme. Was working well for a long time, but for past few months been seeing an error when trying to edit/update popups. Unable to enable/disable (green toggle) popups from the main popup dashboard.

    error showing:
a pink bar error message “failed to load…”
    ../plugins/popup-maker/assets/js/mce-buttons.min.js?version=1.19.0

We have tried clear cache for plugin and also disable WP Fastest Cache plugin. The error persists…

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi @wordmax,

We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with Popup Maker.

Could you please try the steps below to check for any conflict?

Install and activate WordPress’s Health Check & Troubleshooting (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/) plugin, along with the Twenty Twenty-Four or Twenty Twenty-Three theme.

Once the troubleshooting plugin is active, go to your plugins page and click Troubleshooting Mode for our plugin to figure out if a theme or other plugin is interfering with ours.

You’ll also need to turn off any custom code (including custom caching).

Note: The Troubleshooting Mode automatically switches to a WordPress default theme (e.g., Twenty Twenty-Four) and deactivates all the other plugins only for you (your site runs normally for everyone else).

Now, you’re ready to troubleshoot for possible conflicts. Follow these steps:

    1. Test for the error. If the error is gone, it’s a good sign that your site’s theme, plugins, or custom code clashes with our plugin. Time to narrow it down!
    2. Potential time saver: Check the theme first since that’s quick. Hover over Troubleshooting Mode > Themes in the top admin toolbar and switch back to your main theme.
    3. Retest for the error. If you see the error, your main theme is the most likely cause. If not, you can keep the main theme active and move on to the plugins.
    4. Activate your other plugins one at a time, constantly testing for the error after you activate each plugin. Keep going until the error comes back. Potential time saver: If you initially saw the error after installing new plugins or updating any existing plugins, activate those first 1-by-1.
    5. If you see the error, deactivate the last plugin you activated and retest.
    6. If the error disappears again, the last plugin you deactivated is causing a conflict. Make a note and keep it deactivated.
    7. Return to step #4 to keep testing for other possible conflicts (do the same for custom code after you finish the plugins).

You should have a list of the conflicting themes, plugins, and custom code you can now share with the appropriate support team.

If you wish to share more information about the issue privately, feel free to send us a ticket at Support Request – Popup Maker.

    We’ll wait for your update!

Aha. Appreciate the suggestion, but based on the user reviews for the troubleshooting plugin, it looks safer and easier to just clone the site to a private server for manual testing.

I simply can’t imagine I am the first user who has bought this JS error issue to your attention.

Have a feeling it’s an issue with AJAX not working correctly. When we click on green on/off toggle buttons it is having no effect. Maybe if there were an option to disable the AJAX admin UI and just have normal page-loading to edit/save popups.

Using one of the most popular and awesome free themes out there – Blocksy. We have a short list of plugins that should be easy to test, nothing crazy. All mainstream well rated.

Seems like you guys should have a error log option enable/disable in your plugin settings so we can just copy and paste the info for your devs for evaluation.

    Hi @wordmax,

    Thanks for the response.

You can find the error logs in Popup Maker > Tools > Error Logs.

When we click on green on/off toggle buttons it is having no effect.

Do you mean the toggle goes green, but you don’t see a popup? Or do you mean the state is not saving after the page is refreshed?

Would it be alright to record a video of the exact issue?

As you’ve said, we haven’t received other reports similar to what you described so we suspect a conflict with one of your plugins, however, we won’t be able to confirm unless we troubleshoot properly. ??

Feel free to send us a ticket at?Support Request – Popup Maker so we can take a closer look. ??

When we click on green on/off toggle buttons it is having no effect.

When we see list of popups that we have created, we see the enable/disable green toggle, and when we click on one to enable or disable the popup, it appears to change (the page does not refresh (Ajax?)) but when we refresh the page (list of the popups) the state enable/disable has not been saved. If we open a popup individually to edit it and change the toggle enable/disable and save the popup, when we return to the main list of popups page, the state has not been saved.

I will have to recreate it on a test server because do not want to share private info from an active site with traffic. Will submit a support ticket after some further testing if not resolved.

Hi. It looks like there was a conflict with the Imsanity plugin that was causing the JS loading errors which broke the ability to enable/disable the popups.

We disabled the Imsanity plugin and the errors went away and we were able to retain the enable/disable setting on the toggle for each popup.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Could you please raise that with the authors of the Imsanity plugin?

Wow. That is weird. Initially removed Imsanity plugin and error went away. Now, it’s back again. So, testing continues.

    Hi @wordmax,

Thanks for the update. Do you have any caching plugins installed? It might be worth looking at your error logs as well.

Hi @nicholebowman, sorry to hear you’re seeing the same issue. Could you try the troubleshooting steps we posted above? As always, you can also send us a ticket at Support Request – Popup Maker if you want us to take a closer look.

We’ll wait for your updates. ??
