In reply to: B2 Import MadnessAh-ha!
I have a solution!
The b2->rss2->wordpress does work, if you alter the rss2 file before importing it. b2 exports the <item> tag with a trackback url to the original posting, but the WordPress rss import filter just looks for <item> with no room for any other data in the tag.
I’m going to write a script to fix the rss file which I’ll try and post here in a day or two.

In reply to: B2 Import MadnessWell, I guess we should take comfort that it’s not just the b2 import filter which is broken….
I just had the idea to export using b2’s rss2 script, then import using WordPress’s rss import script.
The WordPress import script goes, “Begin RSS Import ??” – you click it, it goes, “All Done” but nothing is actually imported, nor are any errors thrown.
Guys, I know import filters just aren’t as sexy as new features, but please take a few minutes to fix them. Thanks.

In reply to: B2 Import MadnessI agree, I sat down this evening to finally upgrade and thought it’d be an easy process – boy was I wrong.
After wading through a large number of posts, it seems the most reliable way people have found was to install WordPress 1.2, then upgrade to 1.5. Alright, I thought, slight pain in the ass but I’ll give it a try.
I’ve hunted all around the WordPress site and can’t find 1.2, there doesn’t seem to be a section for historical releases of WordPress. So, the only reliable method of b2 to WordPress (according to various threats) now can’t be done because we’re not allow to download WordPress 1.2 anymore.
I’m on the verge of heading for another blogging tool, even though I really like WordPress. As the b2 to WordPress tutorial says, some people have switched to other software “which is a shame.”
Please WordPress folks, update the import filter for WordPress 1.5 so we can join your wonderful community!
