  • Thanks for the link sweetangst.

although, my widgets.php page looks a lot bigger than the one in the linked article and there is no code similar to the one posted there.

maybe my WP version is different. I am rockin version 2.8.1

    Thanks

ok, what i mean is, that i want to modify the meta information.
i want to keep login/logout and get rid of all the other links in meta.

what i meant in my question was that i deleted all the meta as a test, and still ended up with all the meta. so what i need to know is, where is the real meta code that i need to edit to delete all the meta links except login/logout.

thanks for any help on this.

    Hi moderator,
I have followed a lot of posts here on this subject but they don’t seem to help.

i am rocking wordpress 2.8 and have totally eliminated the meta code in my sidebar.php so much that it doesn’t even say <h2>meta</h2>

    BUT

ofcourse, the meta info is still in the sidebar of my site. i am guessing that i am not deleting what i need to.

    any help will be appreciated.

    thanks

    holly heck,

i just removed on line in the widgets.php file that you guys were talking about and now i have white screen of death.

i put the code line back in and uploaded it and still have white screen.

man, i am so $#@ over wordpress. so difficult to do simple things.

that’d be cool. i reckon the easiest way is for media library just to accept movie and sound file types. i wrote to wordpress and asked them for it in the next release but i bet there are 1 million other things that people need more than multimedia types.
    so we’ll see ..

i guess we will have to wait til wordpress enable folders and uploadable media filetypes for our solution.

then you can set the upload limit to 150mb or whatever and get those podcasts up.

    update to question :

i played around with adding the extention .mov to all the places in all files of the nextgen folder where .jpg and .gif etc were listed.

i think the files are in the admin folder, but i did a dreamweaver ‘find’ for .jpg.

and it works. you can upload a .mov file and place it in a gallery i called ‘movies’.

    the only problems are :

    1. you get a unrecognized file type error when you upload it but you can still upload it. this can be sorted out by adding more code in a page somewhere in admin but i can’t really be bothered tonight to find out where.

    2. you don’t get a thumbnail. i reckon a default movie image would be a good start if nextgen gets the ability to upload movies and music file types in its next update. even better would be a random screenshot at say, .10 secs into every movie

if anyone has already tried this and done better, i’d love to hear how.

i am very curious why nextgen programmers didn’t release this capability into there latest update. for a programmer i would say it was an easy fix. maybe they will next time. ?

    thanks

    thanks Zaraza.

To everyone else posting fixes :

If you don’t know the exact solution to the problem PLEASE DO NOT attempt to answer it. It is soooo irritating having to download 7 different plugins and try 29 different code alterations to find out the problem is not resolved.

It would be preferable if there were no answers than wrong ones.

    Thank you

    Hi,
I use nextgen gallery for images because it is great (except lightbox effect doesn’t work for me..whatever)

But I use the inbuilt media gallery for video and sound files. the only prob is that you cant sort video and sound into galleries like you can in nextgen.

    My questions are :

    1. what do you guys do
    2. is there a good media gallery plugin similar to nextgengallery?
    3. do you know if nextgen are bringing out video sound file upload support for the gallery?

    thank you for your time

    Hey Jleuze,

I tried what you suggested and it worked fine. Thanks.
The only prob I ran in to is that some of my drop down sub nav titles were very long (eg: websites – design & development),

so when this goes horizontally, it takes up so much room that when the next parent title is placed in the next column, the end of the footer is already there so the whole menu has to wrap. Does that make sense?

Thanks for your help. I future sites this will come in handy!

I see, that makes a lot of sense because the top nav, if all the drop downs were…down… would look like what i am trying to achieve.

I’ll mess around with the css and change the ids tomake them footer unique.

Thanks Jleuze that helps me out a lot. Good to get a different perspective. I think I have been working on it for so long that I didn’t see that. You are also fairly smart to have seen that so quickly too.

Thanks again man, I’ll let you know how it goes.
    Are you in web design/development?
Where are you located and how much work have you got on right now?

Thanks for taking that time to check it out.
I have to bail but will look at it later tonight.

    Hi Jleuze,
    Thanks for the reply.
My site is at : https://www.antistandard.com/site/
and the theme I am using is called simpleX but the theme has been heavily changed.

If you are using firefox developers toolbar and usig the edit css option, then the css for the footer is in the style.css file and the footer code is about 1 third of the way down in a section called footer.

Thanks for looking at that, I appreciate it. High 5 from Perth, Australia
