In order to keep all your permalinks intact after the WordPress 5.x upgrade, the latest version of the plugin must be installed BEFORE you upgrade to WordPress 5.x.

what the addon does is to allow WordPress permalinks to have more characters (a limitation that WordPress has nowadays be default).
This means that when you first save a new article, the permalink that is generated is not truncated to less characters.

Is the problem you have in the permalinks of new articles?
Old articles that were saved before you installed the addon will not have the long permalinks automatically. In old articles you have to regenerate the permalinks, either manually or with some other addon.

this limitation of 28 characters on woocommerce slug seems related to slug validation by woocommerce.
So this is really irrelevant to what this plugin here does.

please note that all existing/old permalinks (generated before installing the plugin) will not be automatically fixed after the plugin install. Try to create a new post to see if it is working right.
You might use some other plugin that regenerates al your permalinks (in order to take care all old posts that were created before Longer permalinks activation).

One more thing: If you have manually changed your WordPress core to do it (NOT recommended), the plugin might not work. The plugin takes care to extend the core functionality in a proper way to allow longer permalinks without the need to manually change anything about it.

You got an error in frontend? In wp-admin? Inside wp-admin in plugins? Everywhere?
What does this error say?

Did you install the plugin by using “add new” functionality inside wp-admin plugins? Or by FTP upload?
