In reply to: google custom search in inoveThis has been resolved? I’m still having trouble with this on my site: https://www.brianlaesch.com. I’ve specified my CX code into the search option, but just using iNove’s search box doesn’t include Google results. I’ve tried to set up google search the traditional way, but when I search, it just refreshed my homepage and doesn’t go to the search page I’ve specified: https://brianlaesch.com/?page_id=1370
Any suggestions? Should I start a new thread on this since this one is supposedly resolved?

In reply to: What do you think of my personal blog?Yeah, that was supposed to happen. Except, I didn’t mean to post my redirection site. Sorry about that. It’s the “drunkblogger.com” that is on hiatus.

In reply to: “404 — Not Found” on homepageThanks for the help. I already checked out the “front page displays.” It is still set at “the most recent posts.” I tried switching back and forth but neither showed up.
It’s some kind of weird, deep-rooted WordPress problem, but I’m confused on what could of caused it. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen after I posted, so I’m just retelling what I know secondhand.
Are there some files I could use from the original installation to replace current files? Why does the “404.php” file usually show up?

In reply to: “404 — Not Found” showing up instead of recent postsThanks, Figaro. I’ll check them out. I honestly don’t understand how they could combine either. I actually wasn’t the one who did this, so unfortunately I don’t have a more detailed account of what happened.
All I know is what I’m hearing secondhand. Do you know why the “404.php” file usually shows up? Are there some files from the original installation that I could try replacing to fix it?

In reply to: “404 — Not Found” showing up instead of recent postsJust wanted to add…we pasted this code from Microsoft Word…in case some kind of weird formatting corrupted some of our files or something…

In reply to: “404 — Not Found” on homepageWell, the other blogger that works on the blog posted a blog with some code for videos. I believe that some of this code was not html and possibly screwed things up. Somehow, when he published this new post, it combined with the pervious blog post and messed things up, so he deleted the new post. After he deleted it, we got this error. For some reason, this error shows up on every different theme we try, except for the themes that came with WordPress. So now we are really confused on whether it’s a theme problem or a WP problem.
Thanks for the info on the sidebar. I’ll see if that helps.
Here is some of the code he tried to post…
.msnbcLinks {font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 425px;} .msnbcLinks a {text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px;} .msnbcLinks a:link, .msnbcLinks a:visited {color: #5799db !important;} .msnbcLinks a:hover, .msnbcLinks a:active {color:#CC0000 !important;}
I know this is not html. I’m not sure what it is…besides maybe some sort of internal msnbc code? And not sure how this code could have messed up the display of the latest posts on the homepage…but it did. Unfortunately, I did not do this myself. Otherwise, I could provide more details. This is what he has told me…

In reply to: “404 — Not Found” on homepageUPDATE: I was able to edit the 404 file to say “We are undergoing technical difficulties. Please check back soon!” But still not sure why it is displaying this file, and why the sidebar is misaligned. Please help! Thanks.

In reply to: Images Missing after installI have this problem after an upgrade to 2.3.1… Anybody know why this is? I can’t seem to get the answer or find it in the forums anywhere.

In reply to: upgrade woes – editor,images,widgetsIs getting rid of the rogue space in wp-config.php supposed to fix the image problem as well? Because I did that…and it didn’t. I still have the image problem, although my RSS is fixed now… Please advise. I can’t believe more people aren’t having this problem. I upgraded through Bluehost. Could that have anything to do with it?

In reply to: 2.3.1 upgrade wouldn’t show images, now page won’t loadThe page now loads; it was due to an upgrade from my server. I’m still having problems with images showing up now with the upgrade though?
