valedim, I haven’t fixed it. I was able to with a previous version, but I updated this plugin, and have not been able to fix it since. That’s the subject of this thread.

Unfortunately, it seems to have been forgotten by the author. This plugin just isn’t supported as well as I’d prefer so I am currently looking for a new plugin that will suit my needs.

Again, I apologize for the late re-evaluation. The site I was using it one is inactive. I’ve recently updated it and the plugin…all works perfectly.

I’m having the same problem. I suspect it is because the plugin is simply out of date.

The plugin only works on WP up to 3.2.1 (as per the front page). 3.4 has been out for a while now. It could be that the plugin is just no longer supported.

OK. The plugin is called “WordPress Move”. And after a little tweaking and quick help from the author, it moved my site quickly and easily.

I was able to make an exact backup and move the customized theme and all of its contents using another WP plugin. It worked just fine so I’m not sure about their settings not being able to be copied over…the other script worked whereas yours did not.

Not sure if it is appropriate to link theirs in this thread, don’t wanna be disrespectful.

wpvince, if this plugin does not work, there ARE others that will. I think it just depends on how customized your wp site is. If it is vanilla, this may work ok. If it is highly customized, you may find another plugin more suitable.

re: xfer of files.

Apparently, the files WERE transferred to the remote server…but they were moved to the root directory of the account itself (it’s a shared server). It did not xfer them to the backup directory.

I manually moved them. There was 1 file it didn’t extract.

DBBackup-13200092711.sql is being imported… Success!
Backup-13200092721.zip is being extracted… Failed!

Migration has been completed but with 1 error.

Is there a way to try this again, but with only this one file?

That one file was 22k. I don’t know what it was either.

The site does appear to be running ok and I can’t find what may be missing.

You can both change your domain name and migrate at the same time if you use one of the Simple Migration or Advanced Migration methods. (Your new domain name should be pointing your new server)

But will this then mean that the db on the dev server will be changed? I’d like to keep it as-is if possible. I suppose I could always do like before and restore the db if necessary.

The way I did it above, was to just use Simple Migration (w/o changing the domain name). I assume I can change the domain name on the remote site via the Rename process.

I started the process on the dev server through simple migration.

It successfully logged into the other server (according to the log) and it successfully created the backup files.

It said that it transferred those files to the remote server just fine. But it didn’t.

Here’s a partial of the log:

Looked good. I even verified that the files were in the backup dir of the dev server (they were).

However, when I went to the remote server to complete the process…this is what I got:

“There are no backup files to use to complete the migration. Please start the migration using WordPress Move on the server you want to migrate from. “

I verified this…there are no actual files in the backup directory.

I suppose I could manually download them all, the manually upload them to the remote server…but it doesn’t seem like I am supposed to w/ this script.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

OK, that worked.

Changing the domain name was the first step I did and as a result I couldn’t do complete the process (as it would just take me to the remote site).

I think there was confusion about WHEN to do this. In the online instructions, it seems like it should be the first thing…but if moving to another server w/ a different domain…it is apparently supposed to be last?

I restored the db and am starting over.

My apologies. I did in fact assume that this was related to your plugin because it was showing when I clicked the link to forum that allegedly houses the discussion about this plugin.

I will try using it now as I’ve not found anything yet that works. I’ll post a follow-up to let you (and others) know how it went.

I think my site may be too complex for this plugin. From what I can tell, it seems to work on sites w/ little customization (as it isn’t working for my site at all). Is this the case?

That sux. I was about to install this plugin and try it out.

Due to your problem and the complete lack of support here from the author, it seems to be a mistake to do so.

“Donate to this plugin”….I see the link now. I did not see it before. Anyway to create a small graphic there to bring one’s focus to it? I’m sure that people who are familiar with WP and plugins know to look there…but for newbies like me…the page itself is a little daunting the first time I see it…so the small link to donate gets over looked.
