  • The theme was made by me – it’s a variation of twentyten. and I am running 3.1.1

Hi Lyle – I’m having a similar problem – did the above answers work for you, because they didn’t for me.
For me, I updated a theme, went into the dashboard and the site, touched up a few preferences and everything was fine. I then had to make one change to a the wp-includes>general-template.php (a grammatical change nothing really code related, and something I’ve done with every other manipulation of this blog) and that’s when I got this user/655 error.

In the same boat. besides the visual editor not working i also have the admin top toolbar missing. I checked in my user settings and both of these options are checked off, so I should see them. I have other wordpress sites, and updated them to 3.1, and I’m not having any problems on those sites. I use many of the same plugins across all of the sites also.

the only difference that i can think of is that the site I’m having issues with is hosted by a different company? any thoughts on that being a possibility?

nope . . . still getting the entire site, not just the feed. I think the problem is that I AM using the default permalinks. does anyone have any ideas on why it is happening?

Also – this may be a dumb question, but if i change over from the default permalinks to one of the other URL structures will that mess up things? Or will it only affect the handful of links that I manually placed within the site?

thanks for the reply . . .that was one of the first places i looked for info, but unfortunately it still displays the whole page and not just the category feed:

here’s an example of what I’m talking about:
