I stopped using it because you stopped supporting me in this thread. I answered your question about whether I was using Premium right away, and then I came back a week or so later to see you’d marked the thread as resolved.
It does look like a really nice plugin, if I could get it to work. If I try again, it will be this week, and I’ll start a new support post to see if you can help me if I don’t figure it using rainmaker’s suggestion.
A combination of WP Photo Plus and Jet Pack, but now I see that this plugin has been updated twice since I last tried it (and since I posted my unresolved question), so maybe I will give it another shot.
Yeah, the author does just set everything to resolved even if it’s not. For this reason, I definitely won’t buy the product, and I’m using alternatives. It’s a shame, because it looked really good at the beginning. Thanks for posting, rainmaker7.
No, I just stopped using the plugin because I never got an answer here: You asked me if I was using free or pro and posted a screenshot of pro … and then marked the issue resolved. Unfortunately, as I replied, I’m using free. I think I’ll just not use this plugin. Thanks anyway though.
Hi, I wonder if you read these messages after you’ve set them to resolved and the user sets them back to not resolved.
Hi, and thanks for your reply.
I’m currently using the free version to test it out, but if I can get it to work on my site, I’ll most likely purchase the Pro version.
Hope you can help ??
Hello and a huge thanks for all the fighting to get rid of the empty tooltip box showing on Safari and Chrome in OSX … and then the bonus of being able to switch of the edit/delete links so I can more easily see how the page will look to the end user without logging out and in again.
It ALL works! I noticed that you updated with even one more version, so I’m running version 6-1-14-004.
Thanks!!
Nope, unfortunately the empty tooltip is still showing in Chrome and Safari. I’ve deleted all caches, turned off Cloud Flare, verified that version 6-1-14-002 is installed, and done things so I could see the site was properly refreshing. Not sure if it’s my imagination or not, but it seems like it takes longer for the empty tool tip to show up now.
The behavior is that all tooltips are empty boxes when I uncheck the “zoom in” option in settings.
For my testing, the first image in https://www.archerfoto.com/galleries/baskins/ has no photoname and all the rest have filenames (the default album setting) as photoname.
I have to stop for now, and I can really live with this, but thanks for trying. If you have additional suggestions or if you want me to try more later, please feel free to let me know.
I deleted and reinstalled from scratch and the empty tooltip is still showing.
Regarding the delete and edit link for admin, I don’t think I explained myself well. I have unchecked everything related to showing admin tools on the frontend (can’t find the exact tables right now, but one is in the Misc. table), but on the front end, only for default thumbnail view, there is an edit/delete link under some, but not all of the thumbnails. These links don’t show at all (exactly as wanted) for other types of thumbnail gallery displays.I’d like to mail you the login info so you can see what I mean. Is that ok?
Thanks for working so hard … I really am amazed at the great support.
One link to try is https://www.staging1.archerfoto.com/galleries/baskins/.
I replied to my own post before I saw yours, sorry.
Here’s something interesting!
On all masonry-style thumbnails, the alt box is gone, and the issue is solved. I didn’t notice before because I was using the default setting. On the default setting in Table IV-C3, then I always see the empty box on Chrome and Safari. In addition, I always see the “Delete” and “Edit” link for admin, even though I have it unchecked in settings.I can live with it as is, but just thought you’d like to know. It helps me to understand the strange behavior is only with default settings.
By the way, I don’t k*now if I should mark this as resolved or not, but it’s definitely on the way to being resolved.
From the subject line of the original post:
* Alt box (empty tooltip box) on thumbnails, not solved for Safari and Chrome
* Start button solved
* Mobile devices overlay solved (but now the navigation text and arrows are very large on phone … it’s fine on iPad)One thing I’m curious about is, is it possible to use gestures on the phone, like when you expand an image with your finger or swipe to the next image in a lightbox? Not sure if the feature doesn’t exist or if I’m looking in the wrong places in settings.
You are amazing with support, thanks!
I confirm that the lightbox fullscreen overlay is gone for mobile.
Unfortunately, the empty tool tip for photos is still showing in Safari and Chrome (not Firefox). Or am I confused? Help in WPPA -> Settings -> Table II-G91 says “
If you select —none— in Table I-G2 for magnifier size, the tooltop contains the photo name.” but the changelog says “For browsers that display empty tooltip boxes: there are no longer empty title attributes generated.”Maybe I’m messed up with terminology. It looks like all photos in an album get an attribute “photoname” which is the filename. I tried deleting “photoname” from one photo and still have the empty tooltip box on all browsers except Firefox.
Still not working … as soon as I install Jetpack, I get over 200 errors on validating CSS Level 3 and many more on CSS level 2.1. I’ve written to Jetpack support and hope they reply.
Deleting, rather than deactivating NextGen, RoyalSlider, and a few other plugins helped a lot. For some of them, I had to go into my WordPress installation to delete individual folders and files that weren’t removed by uninstalling the plugins. That brought me down to just 51 errors and 139 warnings. I guess I can live with that since the site seems fine, but if anyone has tips about how to track these errors down, I would really appreciate it. It’s quite a challenge for me to interpret the results of the CSS Validator.
