Nice concept, but would be a lot better on a self-hosted domain and with a customized theme and branding.

It has potential to be another one of those sites that will keep me from my work.

If everything used to work properly then it’s possible a plugin overwrote something in the .htaccess file. try removing any recent plugins by deleting them from the plugin folder via FTP and delete all entries on your .htaccess and then re-save your permalinks.

Restore from a previous state if you have a recent backup.

Upgrade to the latest WordPress version and change MySQL username and password for the DB then change your WordPress username and password.

Take your site down while fixing as you wouldn’t want the hacker to get in back while you are fixing it.

It allows me to place a default image on if I do not specify a thumbnail. I use custom fields to place URL of my image and timthumb to generate it in different sizes

I like it, it has a nice modern but corporate feel to it.

Your Gravatar should correspond to your e-mail address used on the wordpress.com blog.

Maybe you need to change the e-mail address on the new blog to be the same or just add another e-mail to your Gravatar account.

I like the layout of the homepage and the idea of using WordPress as a newspaper type of website.

You should take a look at something like OIO publisher to further automate advertising.

Great idea! but instead of assigning a category I would suggest a custom field. You will be able to create a special loop just for posts with a certain custom field.

This is so you can assign a more descriptive category to your images then you wouldn’t have to assign it on more than one.

It would also help if in case you would be using a category based permalink structure.

Seriously now, no one in their right mind would convert HTML to a WordPress template for free unless they intend to submit it themselves to the repository.

Nice two-column layout on the inside, nice and clean on the outside.

A navigation bar needed to be on top but as you said you want users to scroll down to get to the navigation, but still for me, you need to put navigation somewhere in the top fold.

@cyberquill no you are right the particular wood texture is not the right fit.

I must say, going with a wood texture, wood panel coincides that you are a building company and I do believe you can get a better wood texture than that.
