    Another question?

What’s the “best” slide show? I uploaded a lot of photos to my B&B website (https://casacaesarea.com) and the only complain has been that the images are slow to load.

I downloaded NextGen Gallery but I’m having some issues figuring out how to use it. Is there a really basic, simple, slide-show or photo gallery that will enable people to scan photos quickly?

    Thanks WPyogi!

I did indeed download that theme – and that’s when I started messing around and lost the design of my site. Guess who’s afraid to make a move now?

As for multi-sites – I’m still not sure if I understand what that means. What are they used for? In my case, I have a general website, a website for my B&B, a website in Hebrew for my B&B, a website for my book, for my publishing company, for a workshop I sometimes put on, and more! Would there be an advantage to bringing them all together?

I am a proud WordPress boaster – I tell everyone to use it (I switched from Joomla), I’m even considering giving a course helping would-be authors to set up their own. I think the system ROCKS!

Keep up the great work – and thanks from a very grateful WordPress fan.

    Thank you all!

I phoned godaddy and they walked me through it. It worked!

    Whew!

Now that its done… any suggestions for a more appealing/less confusing site theme/design? More contemporary? I have several “businesses”, so I need links to all my sites, I write a blog, and I have some general static information. I realize this might not be the right forum – if not – where?

    Thanks again for the rescue!

And if you need me still to go back to Firefox and try it again – I will. Just tell me please exactly what has to be done.

Thank you all – I really appreciate the advice.

I think I might have solved it – I tried the same operation using Chrome as the Browser and it seems to have worked…. No page renewing itself…

However- I’m having some difficulty figuring out NextGen. A complaint about my site was that the images load too slowly. So that’s when i investigated a better system for loading images and discovered NextGen. I’m now trying to understand the difference between Album & Gallery – and what would work for me. Still haven’t gotten the hang of it – is there a good reference for it? An on-line “manual” I can read? Or can you suggest the best plug-in for quick review of images – or even a good, easy to upload slide show?

    Thanks very much!

Krishna – I’m using Brunelleschi, and I’ve never had this problem. I don’t understand why I would have to change themes, and cancel all the plug-ins. I’d rather not, if there’s another way.

I’m using Firefox. Its within the dashboard – the page keeps renewing itself. And I can’t stop it – nor get the plug-in to work. I’ve already deleted and reinstalled it – no luck.

Oops, make that several months since I posted. (not posed)

Thank you so much Mr. Graynotgrey!

Long time means several months since I posed and I’m sure more than year since I upgraded or really paid attention to the back end. I have several other sites and I’ve been more enthusiastic with them.

As for linking problems, here’s a link to article I wrote. (https://taste.fourseasons.com/2013/03/48-hours-in-paris-cruising-the-cookbook-fair-and-sipping-tea-at-the-george-v/ ). The link from my name to my site didn’t work. So they added the name of my website. That link still doesn’t work. They said they’ve checked at their end and all seems to be fine.

While a lover of websites, and a bit of a closet graphic artist, I’m a disaster at back-end stuff. I really don’t know how to create a backup file (my host is godaddy).

Usually I go for the upgrade and don’t bother with backing up (it also usually includes closing my eyes, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best). But this time I decided to be wise, not foolish, ergo here I am.

Your further assistance would be SO very much appreciated.

    HI there!

Just discovered this widget and love it! Using it for one of my sites – will probably change my site in a different language to use it as well!

One question – I’m not understanding how to link each individual quote on the Home Page back to its own page. I assume that’s possible but I’m not sure where or how to link it. I haven’t added any categories or tags.
    The site is: https://casacaesarea.co.il

    Thanks and best of luck!

Once again – you’re probably right. I have so many wordpress sites I don’t remember which is which. And tomorrow I’m teaching a Lithuanian friend how to upgrade to WordPress from her horrible site and server! (is hosting with you guys the best option for someone who doesn’t have her own server? Any problem with doing that since she lives in one country but her fans are in another?)

Boy am I feeling stupid. I did what you suggested originally, but when I checked the site – I saw it was as it was before. I didn’t think about checking it on another computer! Just did that and of course it worked! Thank you for being patient and for that great piece of advice. Problem solved! And I assume when I’m ready to go live I just delete the plugin? Any idea why the WordPress system was changed from the days it allowed you to choose private?
