…I’m still curious though, why the different forum numbers for each different website? If they are only sending out bots to trigger analytics to redirect to amazon, shouldn’t all the referral links be the same?

I would still like to get more information, but this apparently seems like a group of russian hackers who are collecting and organizing data by triggering analytics and then collecting their own analytics and ip addresses from people who visit the darodar forum thread number related to the website/webpage they triggered and then redirecting to amazon with a referral link. I’m sure there’s more to it.

The OS version used in my analytics is Linux i686, which I think is Arch Linux, do the rest of you also get this OS version for all the visits?

@fraenk Its not only wordpress, other types of websites have been visited.

@fraenk and @roughneck.jon and @anyone else: Is the only city you see for these visits Moscow? Other have posted there’s two cities: Moscow and Samara, both in Russia, anyone else get the visit from Samara? Or another city?

If so, what city? If not, then please post the location.

Was there just one visit or is it a returning visitor?
Is darodar.com the only referrer? or was there another?
I also have this visitor and I have been researching it to try to find out who or what they are.
Seems that each website gets referred by a different forum number, each forum link is a subdomain and probably has analytics installed on it. So if you visit the link, I imagine your analytics details will be recorded together with your website. Still researching this though.

To the people who posted in this thread: Please post as much info as possible about your individual experiences with these visits and your website links if you are willing.

I disagree, I would not say it’s harmless.
Has anyone who is getting these visits have any mention of russian cities or photos of russian cities or any other keywords which might be related to that on their website? What is the content of your sites? Can you post some more information about your websites, and/or links to your websites so I can review them.
