Sure. On the WP Dashboard, I went to Appearance > Editor and then edited the header.php file.

I removed the line:
<title><?php wp_title(‘|’, true, ‘right’); ?></title>

And that kind of sorted out my issue. Don’t know if that’s the best fix, but it seems to be working alright for now. Overall, the upgrade to WP 4.4 has been a terrible experience for me. Not necessarily related to my use of Hemingway, but overall issues.

I’ve kind of fixed it by searching the support forums, but I’m not sure if it’s the best solution.

I’ve customised the theme by deleting the title tag in the header file, but there still is a hyphen at the end of the Site Title that I want to hide.

Visual1, from what I have tried whitelist your website url as well as your WordPress admin url on your antivirus and you should be sorted out. Damn shame that WordPress subjected users to this! Completely unnecessary stress.

I’m running BitDefender and have whitelisted my own website and the WP admin panel is still not functioning properly. It’s a pity, and a bit disappointing, that WordPress folks have not thought this update through completely. Been, and still is, a very frustrating experience. And I haven’t been able to resolve the issue yet.

You know what, I tried accessing my admin from another computer and that worked. That means it’s a local issue with my machine. But why? I don’t understand.

For my own laptop, this is what I did:
1. I’m on the latest version of Chrome (47).
2. I cleared all the cache and cookies.
3. Disabled all add-ons/extensions.

Nada. Still doesn’t work on my machine. Any idea why this could be happening?

If it helps, I’m on the Hemingway theme, but I don’t think that’s the problem because the issue persisted even after deactivating all plugins and switching to Twenty Fifteen.

Tried reinstalling, but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there anything else I can do?

It’s driving me crazy, and I’m out of my depth with the last solution that James has suggested. Ugh.

I use the WordPress admin online and haven’t downloaded it on my computer. Should I download it now? I’m not particularly tech-savvy, but I’ve been able to manage basic tasks so far.
