ok am trying setup wizard again – is it normal to receive this? This is the first time I’ve tried to install a pro version even though I bought the key months ago. It’s hanging again…

The following file downloaded automatically right after the setup wizard started:

    [ Excessive PHP redacted ]

was just reminded that godaddy would not import my backup with all in one wp even thought he site is really small – I think the file times out… so I’m having to upload file then install it from within the file space… is that what we need to do to get bps pro to install on a godaddy linux shared hosting account? And if so, what is the procedure. It will be different than for the plugin because the plugin workaround is to restore the exported copy as if it was a backup via their backup feature.

or should I have let it run longer than 5 minutes?

if it helps, I used the uninstall option for upgrading — this time after the restore puts the older (non pro) version of bp on I am going to delete it completely

or should I back down php to version 5.5?

(yes WP was completely up to date first – I’ve saved bp for last :))

This was very helpful btw – I really appreciate it. I am in the process of moving a blog to GoDaddy because it’s the best choice for the client and installing my pro version of bulletproof and also saw the memory message. Being able to refer to this thread got me on the right track while waiting through the stone age for an agent.

In case it helps anyone, the feedback to do it through godaddy’s cpanel via the change php is the correct way to do it for that hosting service. Chanign to 5.5 or 5.6 ups the memory to 128 automatically. You can also click o the setting (even though it is gray) and change it. Sypport recommended not setting the memory for php any higher than 50% of the maximum allocated memory to protect site from being crashed by a runaway php script. This is all proactive, haven’t finished the reinstall yet, but wanted to post when fresh.

Thank You for your empathy. Yes it was sad. Also nice in a bittersweet way to see people I haven’t been able to see in a while.

and Thank You for the solution. Yes, this worked. At first all appeared to be normal when browsing the blog as a normal user on other machines and I thought that it was my lucky day and either you or the hosting service had changed something but then I decided to finish getting everything up to date and apply the minor .1 update to the engine and (sigh) got the 500 error for the dashboard and also as a regular user when refreshing

but I followed the steps you suggested above, and was able to apple the minor update, all appears to be well. This was on 3 sites that are on the same hosting service but on different servers there.

Is this something I should ask the hosting service about and if so, what should I tell them? What is the issue? Is it easy to explain?

Thank you – so you know, there is a family matter which is making me slow to respond. I’ll try this, and also find my way over to the pro forum… but please keep this thread alive. I need to find it again after I get back from a memorial service.

Ok – Thanks. For some reason I didn’t get a copy of your responses. Am glad I checked manually.

Should Step 0 be to install the pro version or to update the free version to 53.1 again? I have access to the control panel and the site works fine now because I did a restore / reverted to the prior version.

I’ve always thought this hosting service to be pretty good, so if this incompatibility is something they can fix on their end, I’m open to suggesting it to them after I have a chance to test your fix.

    Thanks

Please don’t bloat it up by trying to make it too friendly for everyone.

    Thank You.

Actually, it did used to work with private calendars, and although there was not any big hushhush about this calendar, since some of the people attending the activities can be minors the idea was just to keep as low of a profile as the internet permits reasonably; without going to any extremes.

It still does work with privacy settings to a degree — if you click the box to only show free/busy time but not all details, only part of the feed gets delivered to it. We’re letting it show everything but I can see how that might be useful for some. Public events for the feed but they could also have their private notes when they sign in.

I appreciate your plugin. It works great.
