    You have a javascript conflict with another plugin. Deactivate each one until it works again, then systematically re-activate each plugin to see which one is conflicting.

    Always, always, back up your site files, server side..before you do an update on ANYTHING. Your best bet is to save your files, in the previous version of wordpress first, just incase the new wordpress update crashes it. Because, doing a restore, in the server, will not restore the older version of your wordpress..so it’s super important.
    Another note, I have learned with buddypress, is to wait a couple of weeks to update your wordpress when the new versions come out. Reason: it takes about that long for bug reports to pour in to buddypress.org so the pluggins that crash will be updated to(we hope anyway)
