This plugin is provided as a means to use Secure Image enrypted images on WordPress pages and posts. The encrypted images to upload are provided by the Secure Image software available from https://www.artistscope.com

On most servers the website user is “Apache”. Otherwise the user will be evident or nominated in your web hot’s documentation.

It is not a limitation… you were worried about setting permissions for everyone, so set it to the Apache user or don’t worry about. If such permissons were a concern, then WordPress would not require such write permissions on itself to be able to automatically update plugins from the admin console.

Set write permissions for “Apache” or whatever the website user is.

The error message says it all… the upload directory does not have the appropriate write permissions, ie: read, write and execute for everyone.

At the top of the upload screen is a button/link to “Save”.

The upload limit can be adjusted on the plugin’s settings page.

But you do need the Copysafe PDF software to be able to encrypt PDF prior to upload and that can be registered here…

Additional to the software license you will also need a Domain Lock license for your website before you can display protected PDF for browser view.

Click on “Existing files” to see if it is listed. Then select from that list.

You need to select the file for it to be included. Then you need to click “Insert/save”.

Try setting permissions to read, write and EXECUTE for everyone.

Note that I specify “EXECUTE” because some control panels can overlook this.

The read, write and execute permissions for everyone need to be applied to the upload folder.

“Permission denied” sums it up. You may have changed permissions but you need full permissions, ie: read, write and

execute

for everyone.

We do have another plugin known as Copysafe Web which enables you to display a variety of content while protecting from Print Screen and capture but it doesn’t protect PDF from direct downloads.

This plugin, Copysafe PDF, does protect PDF documents from all save methods and exploits. You can use this WP module to display protected PDF on web pages or you can simply provide the document by email, download or on CD for viewing in the Copysafe PDF Reader, as opposed to reading from a web browser.

It is obvious from your error message that your effort to change the folder permissions was ineffective.

If your site has a Control Panel as well as FTP access then their may be a conflict because only one should be used. Contact your web host for them to apply the correct permissions, ie: read, write, execute for everyone.

You can change the permissions on the upload folder by using either your FTP program or the FileManager available from your control panel. If you do not have these tools, please contact your web host and ask them to enable read, write and execute permissions for everyone on that folder.

Only protected PDF will appear in your list and they need to have been uploaded as .class files using the uploader provided by the plugin.

How do you create a new folder?

How did you install WordPress in the first place? Did you upload via FTP or via a file manger in your web hosting control panel?

Either of these file managers can be used to create a new folder and also set the permissions that are required, ie: make the copysafe-web upload folder read and writable by everyone.
