i had a look at your blog post — that makes it sound easier to create the child theme than the wordpress link you gave!

can you give me a brief rationale for why creating a child theme is better than adding code to the additional CSS section within the parent theme? i have about 70 lines of additional code in my Sela theme now, but it’s working perfectly. why mess with success?

are you sure that is every bit of code i need? when i paste that in, i get an error message, asking me to add “indent” after the colon, like this:

}
.social-links ul a:indent before {
background: #75c03f;
}

although that corrects the error, it doesn’t change the colour of the icons in the footer!

and, thanks for the “pro tip” about child themes. i’m gathering that is the cleaner way of doing things from reading various forum posts — but i’m not there just yet! i will read your link!

never mind. i got rid of the social media menu, which deleted the icons.
