  • the index.php file is your main file. Leave the code on there if you want the comment form on the blog. Remove the comment form from page.php

    many times when you get a message like that it’s because a certain plugin is conflicting with another one. Which can be a bit of a pain to pinpoint.

    I would try to deactivate all your plugins. Then activate Amazon S3 plugin. If it works, now you will have to activate each of your other plugins one by one until you get the error message again. Unfortunately sometimes you have to sacrifice a plugin you have for one that you need more. They don’t always all play nice together.

    If that doesn’t work, then you may have to cleanup your database and that’s a whole other set of instructions ??

    Good luck!

    okay, I didn’t want to give up on this great plugin so I’ll tell you what I did. Initially when I set the app up I only gave it read access and when I updated it to read-write access I didn’t know that I needed to generate a new consumer key and secret and a new access token and secret. So today I deleted the app and started over and I’m pleased to report that Twitter Tools now works perfectly!

    So for those of you having trouble…start all over again…make sure you assign read-write access to it!

    yes, I have switched to Platinum SEO Pack for this very reason. I hate being constatly nagged to donate and also to activate it. IMHO, if you want to release a free plugin…then it should be free with no strings…if not make it a pro plugin and sell it!

    Hi Amy,

    I have a real problem with theme designers forcing the users to keep sponsored links intact. In my opinion you are not obligated to do so. Some may argue with me on that…but whatever..that is my opinion and I have in the past removed links like that for clients. For the encrypted ones, there is a way to remove the code but it’s a real pain.
    The best solution, again in my humble opinion, is this: select a different theme and don’t support theme designers who include sponsored links on their themes.

    Forum: Installing WordPress
    In reply to: HELP! SOS!

    I have to warn you, though, that Go-Daddy hosting and WordPress do not play nice together. Several of my clients have had problems with really slow loading blogs and various other errors when using Go-Daddy hosting.
    Go-Daddy is an excellent registrar, but from my experience, not the best solution for hosting, especially if you want to use WordPress.

    If you still want to host with GoDaddy and if you want to install WordPress easily, login to your control panel and look for Add-On Applications (or Fantastico) section, you will see WordPress on the list.
    Click on it and click install. It will prompt you to select whether you want to install WordPress in your server’s root directory or another directory. Choose wisely and continue from there. Once installed the system will tell you where to login.

    Good luck!

    have you upgraded the plugin? when you go to your plugins page do you see this underneath Adsense plugin:
    There is a new version of (name of plugin) available. Download (version number) here or upgrade automatically.
    if so, upgrade…

    if not, it’s possible the plugin is not compatible with 2.6 yet in which case I suggest contacting the plugin author to see if a new version is in the works

    do you mean you deleted pages and links from the theme files or from the blog itself?

    if you changed the theme files..simply overwrite the exisitng theme files located in your wp-content/theme directory with the original theme files

    if you want a fresh install of WordPress…that’s easy enough. just delete the database and all the WordPress files and directories and start over

    you should not have to edit the wp_config.php file when you are upgrading..Don’t touch that file!
    If you follow the upgrade steps to the letter
    that are here:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Upgrading_WordPress
    you should not have a problem…

    Here’s the steps I take to upgrade WordPress:

    1)back-up the database ! I use this plugin:
    https://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup
    2)deactivate all plugins
    3) over-write all WordPress files in the WordPress root directory except wp-config.php and .htaccess
    4)delete old wp-includes directory and all files within it. FTP new version wp-includes directory and all files within in
    5) delete old wp-admin directory and all files within it and FTP new version wp-admin directory and all files within it.
    6)type in https://yourdomain-and-wordpress-url/wp-admin/upgrade.php and follow the prompts
    7) you’re done! login and activate all your plugins and upgrade the ones that indicate they need to be upgraded.

    now, there still could be problems, and it may be your theme that’s not compatible. In which case change to the default theme. Is your site working? Yes? okay, now you must change themes or contact the theme designer and see if they have an upgraded version.

    Sometimes it could be a problem with a plugin. To check you must de-activate and activate plugins one by one to determine which one is causing you grief.

    Good luck!

    you mentioned you found out config.php changed so you upgraded it…All the files in the WordPress root directory must be upgraded by overwriting the current ones. That could be why you’re having problems…

    no you don’t need cPanel
    but you need these and I suggest you contact your host and ask if they support:
    * PHP 4.3 or greater
    * MySQL 4.0 or greater
    * The mod_rewrite Apache module

    I also advise you to move to Linux and make sure your host has the mod_rewrite Apache module

    strange…did you back up your database before you upgraded?

    did you go to https://yourwordpressurl/wp-admin/upgrade.php after you upgraded before you tried to login?

    Try the above.

    can’t view the above link for the footer text for some reason – it’s not allowing me.

    I have no use for designers who force these types of links on end users..seriously! Giving credit to a designer is one thing. Forcing the user to keep these links is utter crap.

    My suggestion is this: find another theme. There are hundreds to choose from. The theme you are using doesn’t even validate for heaven’s sake!

    good luck with your site. I think you have a very good niche there!
